RE: Steemchurch: The Desamparo of the Man and the Power of Christ.

in #steemchurch7 years ago

What the Lord found in that pool of Bethesda, was a sad display of human misery, both body and soul.
But among all the sick there was one for which Jesus was especially interested. It was a man who had been suffering for thirty-eight years while waiting for a healing that never came. We could well say that it was an extreme case among all that crowd. The paralytic's response highlighted his frustration. He had lost all hope of being healed, and he explained to the Lord all the problems he encountered to arrive at the only solution he knew.
No wonder his discouragement. After so many years of persevering without rest in what did not solve his problem, he had come to give up. But the worst of his condition was that when Jesus appeared before him, his frustration prevented him from realizing that he had before him the true solution to his situation. Before all this, we asked ourselves why the Lord healed him? What did he see in it? And the answer is that what moved Jesus was not what he saw in the paralytic, but his own character: the Lord is very merciful and compassionate (Jas 5:11). And in reality, this is the same reason why he went to the cross to die for us too.
