Ethereum

Ethereum is a distributed system, a platform to run by smart contracts, offers and based on an own public Blockchain. Ethereum used as means of payment for computing the cryptocurrency ether, make available to the participants in the distributed system. Smart contracts are written mostly in the programming language specially developed for Ethereum soloist.

Ethereum was originally end 2013 by Vitalik Buterin commonly described and early 2014 formalized by Gavin Wood in the so-called "yellow paper". In July 2015, the operation was launched from Ethereum. Only 7 months later, on February 29, 2016, the cryptocurrency used in Ethereum had a market capitalization of over $ 500 million ether. Another two weeks later, on March 12, 2016, this had doubled already and ether achieved a market capitalization of more than $1 billion. The development is managed by the Ethereum Foundation, a Swiss non-profit foundation.

Ethereum ist ein verteiltes System, das eine Plattform zum Ausführen von Smart Contracts bietet und auf einer eigenen öffentlichen Blockchain basiert. Ethereum verwendet die Kryptowährung Ether als Zahlungsmittel für Rechenleistung, die Teilnehmer am verteilten System zur Verfügung stellen. Die Smart Contracts werden meist in der für Ethereum eigens entwickelten Programmiersprache Solidity geschrieben.

Ethereum wurde ursprünglich Ende 2013 von Vitalik Buterin allgemein beschrieben und Anfang 2014 von Gavin Wood im sogenannten „yellow paper“ formalisiert beschrieben.Im Juli 2015 wurde der Betrieb von Ethereum gestartet.Nur 7 Monate später, am 29. Februar 2016, hatte die in Ethereum verwendete Kryptowährung Ether eine Marktkapitalisierung von über 500 Millionen US-Dollar. Weitere zwei Wochen später, am 12. März 2016, hatte sich diese bereits verdoppelt und Ether konnte eine Marktkapitalisierung von über einer Milliarde Dollar verzeichnen. Die Entwicklung wird von der Ethereum Foundation geleitet, einer schweizerischen Non-profit-Stiftung.
