Walking along the dessert, he felt so tired. His lips were parched and bleeding. He checked his bag and the bottle that held the last drops of water in it. How much farther is did he have to go to reach his freedom? He willed himself to reach the borderline.
did he escape from jail or what? hmm lol
Hopefully he makes it before the harsh desert takes him. :)
Oh my, I feel thirsty reading this! You've done a great job of creating tension in your story.
I have two suggestions for edits: Change "dessert" to "desert". (Dessert is what we eat.) And take the word "is" out of the sentence "How much farther is did he have to go...."

It sounds like this man is escaping Tyranny in his homeland and trying to make it to another country where he may find refuge.... I hope he makes it..
