Pittsburgh Pinball Open

Boooooooom News:

Things are heating up in Pittsburgh, as we are less than 24 hours from the Kickoff of the Pittsburgh Pinball Open. Now a major event on the PAPA Circuit, it is sure to draw all the best players from the East Coast. Last year close to 100 players competed in the Open Division, and Steven Bowden (currently #15 in the world) walked away the champion while Aleksander Kaczmarczyk (currently #40 in the world) was the runner-up.

The event kicks off Friday, September 29th at 2:00 PM EST, and qualifying raps up Saturday at 2:00 AM. The qualifying format is the old PAPA ticket format - you must put together 4 games in a row, and your position on each game is awarded a score. The 4 scores are added up for your total qualifying score. Entries are $10 apiece and there are no caps on the number of entries a participant may attempt. The top 24 players will have qualified for the playoffs, which start at 10:30 AM on Sunday. Playoffs are head to head best of 5, winner moves on - loser eliminated.

The last couple years, the PAPAPinball channel (now on youtube) has streamed the finals, so I expect the live stream to pop up sometime around noon on Sunday. Here is a link to last year's stream (on the same channel where this year's stream will be broadcast):

If anyone lives near Pittsburgh and isn't doing anything this weekend, I highly recommend checking it out. Here is a link to the facebook event page for anyone interested - the address is in the details (also, feel free to comment on the page, someone will likely respond):

If you do stop down, be sure to ask for G-Money - that's me. I'll be the guy dancing with my headphones on while blowing up the machine (blowing up a machine is a good thing). Or I'll be keeping score. You never know.
