It’s early days in the Premier League season, but a bet against Man City to reclaim their title would be a brave bet. Yes, they had a blistering start to the season last year but faltered as Chelsea cruised virtually unchallenged to the title, but this season things seem a little different.

The way they dispatched Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace yesterday confirmed what many people are starting to believe. Yes, the first half was frustratingly boring as Palace, who are yet to score a league goal this season, closed up shop in hope snatching a draw.

Leroy Sane celebrates after putting City ahead before the break

With many spurned early chances and the home crowd starting to get restless, City finally broke the deadlock in the 44th minute through Leroy Sane. A David Silva chip let in the German international who took the ball in the air, chip-volleyed it over the Palace defender, before leaving himself with only the keeper to beat, which he duly did.

Palace, who have now become the first team in England to lose their first 6 games without scoring a goal, needed a different philosophy for the second half and started to play a bit.

But with this adventure opportunities started arising for City. Although Palace had chances of their own, it was Raheem Sterling who scored two close range efforts within 8 minutes to put the game beyond Palace, and it was then just a matter of how many did City want to score.

Sane seemed to be involved in all the action. And it was he who set up the fourth for Aguero. A pinpoint cross from the left wing fell perfectly on the Argentine’s head which was drilled low into the goal.

Delph scores the goal of the day to wrap up an impressive win for City

4-0 up and heading for a comfortable win, City weren’t finished. And the fifth goal was definitely the best of the day. Substitute Fabian Delph got the ball on the edge of the area and brushed off the Palace defence with a fine dummy, creating space for himself to caress a perfect shot into the top corner to leave Palace down and definitely out.

City have been impressive this season and their two previous league games had seen them win 6-0 and 5-0. Manager, Pep Guardiola was delighted with the result and performance. “We started good and we created a few chances in the opening 10 minutes,” he said, “The last 10 minutes of the first half we started to play good again and it helped a lot to score the first goal before half-time. The second half we were at the level of the last few weeks.”

City manager was delighted with his team's performance

Palace manger Roy Hodgson seemed frustrated at his side’s performance. “I am disappointed that the play, both defensively and offensively, that we showed in the first half we couldn’t get close to in the 2nd half,” he said. “A team like Man City are one of the worst you can play against when they are leading and feeling confident and creating chances.”

And who could disagree with him? We will see how strong City’s title credentials are next Saturday when they travel to west London for a mouth-watering game against champions Chelsea.

Manchester city 👍

City are goal scoring side, lost a bit of that zip last season, but looks like Pep has got it right this year. Can be champions, if he solves problem at back.

They are looking good! But so are Man U, to be fair.

Yes Pep vs Mou rivalry revisited.

Coming from Leeds, I like neither Manchester club, but it's looking like it could be an interesting fight between the two.

im waiting to see them against Chelsea defense.

that will be fun to watch. I

Draw most likely. But If Chelsea open up and decides to score more goals, then City will destroy them.

Did you watch it? City deserved to win and are looking good!

It’s getting just out right Savage what they’re doing to these teams in the Prem. If someone doesn’t stop them soon they could run away with the league.

I agree completely.
