My ArtVenture: Watercolor painting „Venice“

Hello dear Steemians,
I would like to present you today my series of practicing to mix different colors on paper. For that exercise I decided to choose Venice as a practicing reference. We all love Venice due to its Architecture and also there are so many of possible photography.
First it was a test to combine different colors and see what matches better and of course the paper. My few attempts of light paper did not work as the colors were out of control and paper waved heavily. Then I used rough paper and it was better due to relief if holds better water between fibers.

What I noticed when I did smaller paintings and just quick sketch without caring much about shapes and color intensity those ones came out pretty and I liked them. But once I decided to do it on a bigger format I noticed that I was too slow and that is why the colors had not much time to mix.

The same time I started another portrait exercise with watercolor, that it still in process and where my practicing continued I am excited about the result if it.

I hope you enjoyed my post and thank you for viewing :-)
Very nice painting of a city that's near a breaking point... if they cannot find a solution fast, someday all we will see above the water are the roofs. 😬
It is a shame to lose such historical beauty, I even do not want to imagine it.
I have never been there, nor think I will ever have the chance but you never know. Unfortunately climate change, or the fake climate change, is somehow causing sea levels to rise, and with it the drowning of such an iconic city. An entire heritage lost...BUT I just had a flash reading @trincowski's comment.... what if knowing that the city will not be salvageable, if that is the final analysis, then prepare the enitre city for going under.
What I mean is that maybe they can figure out a way to preserve the city by treating it prior to going under the ocean with some sort of coating that will protect as much of the city as possible for as long asa possible while under the ocean. It can then remain an attraction, albeit under water, and remain in tact for as long as possible due to the preservation efforts prior to going under.
This idea came from an old memory of a friend telling me a story him going diving many years prior to even being told the story about him diving in some lake somewhere in Mexico where there was a city or village under water. Maybe it was a church.... but definitely a dive story in a lake where there was a building or buildings.... the story told to me was a long time ago.
Anyhow, I hope this doesn't ever come to pass...
Hi @streetstyle, sorry for late reply. It is sometimes frustrating to see how powerful the nature but on other hand how stubborn our politicians are who do not like to admit the fact and make no decision in order to prevent the climate change.
I was in Venice one as a student, we too cheep train over night and spend a day there, that felt like you have a time travel to past, overwhelming. I believe there are many place on Earth where you can have such feeling so no matter where we are if we can we have to try to do our best to preserve the historical treasures :)
Looks great! Looking forward to seeing to finished portrait :)
Yes, me too, I liked that photograph so much, but my hubby did not so we will see if the finished work will change his mind :)
Oehh, I'm very curious to see what the painting of that woman is going to look like!
А я думал, что сразу красками рисуется. А оказывается сначала карандашом.
Really nice art @stef1 and thanks for helping out with MAP. Can't wait for that piece to be finished, can I ask how long has that one been in the works for? In other words about how many hours of work is it and is done in parts? Thank you.
It just depends on inspiration sometimes I finish my works during the same day, when everything goes smoothly and works out from first moment. But there are some works that after watercolor painting, I still think that the colors are too pale I paint over with acrylic. For my model it took me about 5 days but each day about 3 hours, I needed small breaks just to relax and come back later :)
Thank you @stef1 for getting back to me. That is a lot of work.... and really an artist's work is never done. Take care and keep posting.
