CRIES OF OUR HEROS PAST.

Oh! Please give us a break,
From working on this cotton field.
Oh! Enough of that menacing look,
We are also humans with feelings and emotions.
Oh! Enough of this thrashing,
We can't go any further on empty stomachs.
Oh! Please spare our children,
They are not old enough to be your maids.

Oh God! What have we done?
For thou hath forsaken your beloved.
Oh! For what sins do we pay this price?
Of mercilessness and injustice.
Oh! Of what crime is it to be black?
For we were underrated and enslaved for our skin colour.
Oh! On what account is it treason to be peaceful?
For we were decreed uncivilized, uncultured and mud-bound.
Oh! When will this end?
We do not wish this for the next generation.

Oh Africans! Rise up and fight!
For we were not born for this purpose.
Oh! Sound the alarm up and down town,
That we shall be slaves no more.
Oh! We shall fight for our human rights,
And no longer shall we bear names bored in our chests.
Oh Whites! Proud and self-sufficient,
We shall bow and work for you no more!
