The word of God negates every reason

In Christendom, we have been told that serving God is not optional. People come up with all manner of excuses in order not to serve. Some claim that they are too old, too young, too busy, too tired, too sick, too far and many other reasons.

However, the word of God negates every reason and says that believers are "created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them", Ephesians 2:10.

Service is not dependent upon health, age, or experience. There are bedridden men and women who dedicate their days to intercessory prayer for the church and ministers of God. Recently, I met some godly children of God who have never attended seminary or the Bible colleges but are doing great in discipling new believers.

Character or attitude is the major difference between these genuine servants of God and those who make excuses. If you see yourself as a servant, you will be God-focused and dependent upon the Holy Spirit. But if you are busy worrying over how, when, where, and at what cost you are working for the Lord, then you are self-centered and of little use to Him.

Remember, someday you will stand before God, and He will require an auditing report of how you used the talents and spiritual gifts you were given. There is nothing you will say to Him that will justify ignoring the opportunities He gave you to use those gifts, no excuse will hold up. The Lord bestows you with unique talents and abilities for a purpose, and He will equip you with greater service for His kingdom when you put them into good use.

When you serve Him wholeheartedly, you can look forward to hearing, "Well done, good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord".

Complete surrender to God's will is the key to pleasing and serving Him. Will you?
