Exploring the islands of Malta

in OCD5 years ago

Hello everyone!

It's been some time since I made a post and I haven't really known what I should post about. It's been a bit cloudy and dark lately but a while ago we had a really beautiful day and I decided to go explore a bit. I went on another day trip to Gozo and just walked by the coast and looked for cool things along the way. I found a few places that I liked and decided to take a few photos that I could share here with my followers. For those of you that don't know Gozo is one of the Maltese islands and it's really cool and has a lot to offer. I was walking on the northern coast and I knew that there was a popular place there called the Salt pans so that is what I was going to look for.

After walking for a while I noticed that I had gotten pretty far already without taking any photos at all. I guess I got distracted by everything being so beautiful. When I did notice I started taking photos of pretty much everything.

I had started walking from behind the buildings you can see in the back of this photo so I had already missed a bit of it but there was still so much to see so no worries there. I found a strange building which is called the Qolla l-Bajda. I am not sure what it was used for but it was a really chill spot and I could have sat there for the rest of the day to be honest and just looked at the ocean. Here it is

As you can see on the left side of the building there are salt pans here too. For those of you that don't know these were used to collect salt from the ocean and some of which are actually still used for that purpose. The water collects on these "pans" and when the water evaporates the salt is all that's left. These were however not the salt pans I was looking for. Those came a bit later.

As I walked a bit further I came across a small beach where some people were enjoying the sun. I love how you can just walk around and find beach after beach showing up after a while.

Shorly after I passed the beach I arrived at my final destination which was the salt pans. They really look kind of cool and it's pretty interesting that they are still being used. In fact, there was a small shop on a hill behind them where they sold salt collected here.

After this place it pretty much keeps going with salt pans and probably many more beaches. I really liked this next photo because I love how blue the ocean is.

On my way up towards the road I stumbled upon this which I had to check a few times to make sure I wasn't reading it wrong. It really amazed me that someone had actually done this so I had to check it out.

Some guy decided to swim from Sicily to the island of Gozo and in record time too. I can't imagine swimming for 30 hours to be honest. The cramps must have been brutal. Shoutout to Nicky Farrugia for being a beast!

That was it for my post today. While writing this post I noticed that I had a few good photos from the way back too which I might post soon after looking through them and choosing the best ones.

I hope you liked this post and hope you are all doing well! Steem on peeps!

Peace, Straw
