[Straw Reviews] Disjointed Netflix Series - Honest Review
Hello everyone,
Today I wanted to write a little review of a TV-series I watched a while back. I haven't really written anything like this in a long time so this is definitely not gonna be the best review you'll read but it might at least give you some idea of the series I'm reviewing and if it might be for you.
THERE MIGHT BE A FEW SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW!
The series is called Disjointed and it's a Netflix series that premiered on August 25, 2017. Now when I first saw it while browsing Netflix I got really excited. I mean as a former stoner, seeing a stoner series on Netflix made me wanna check it out right away. I immediately thought of all the great possibilities. My mind went from Pineapple Express to Harold and Kumar and I thought this is going to be awesome!
The series is about a medical marijuana dispensary that is being run by Ruth Whitefeather Feldman(Kathy Bates), her son(Aaron Moten) and a few other "stoners". The idea is cool and it seemed like it would be hard for this to not be good. Oh how wrong I was.
I started watching and quickly realized something was wrong. These people didn't seem like stoners. What I saw in front of me seemed like people who have never smoked weed, decided to make a stoner series and failed horribly. You just have this weird vibe the whole time through the 10 episodes of the first season that makes you think "is this really how stoners are?". The answer is no. I realize that many people probably liked this show and what I'm saying is just my personal opinion. No one should feel attacked because of what I say. Except for maybe the creators of this abomination. :D ok I'll calm down a bit and get back in a few.
Okay let's keep going! The thing I disliked the most in this series comes in the form of a duo. Yup you guessed it right! It's these two:
My whole body cringes when these two come on the show. I realize these two aren't supposed to portray normal stoners and that they are just stupid but I have literally never seen anything worse in a TV show. And I've watched pretty much everything worth watching. I'd rather watch a loop of Justin Sun talking about Steem than these two and that should say a lot.
Moving on from those two because I don't wanna even think about them anymore.
I realize the series is dramatized and the stoners are supposed to seem like ultra dumb stoner types that boomers expect stoners to be. Still it just baffles me how wrong they went. In my opinion the one that seems the most like a stoner in this series is the security guard and he doesn't even fucking smoke(until later on).
Back to the owner who as I mentioned previously is played by Kathy Bates. I really liked her in The Office but in this series I really didn't see it. The only thing I really liked in this series was the security guards "trips". Which is also a bit twisted because that's not how weed works so it's just another thing wrong with this show. Ain't no weed gonna make you trip like that unless you smoking synthetic THC in which case you probably are exactly like the "stoners" in this show. I liked the animations is what I mean and they were actually pretty cool at times.
Here is the trailer of the show if you are interested.
I was browsing on Netflix a few days ago and saw that they released a second season. I might watch it just to see if they have somehow fixed the issues but I have a feeling it's gonna be the same shit show. If I do I will write a review again and we will see if my mind has been changed.
I didn't mean for the review to sound so angry or whatever but this is my honest opinion about this show. And that is also it for the review. I hope you liked it or maybe it helped someone decide if they want to watch the series or not. I want to try and write more reviews in the future so stay tuned for those.
Peace, Straw
