Processing ripe bananas

Overripe bananas are often considered unfit for consumption, even though we can make various types of food, it is precisely overripe bananas that are very easy and suitable for use as dough, such as sponge cakes, and others. One way to process overripe bananas is to make puffed bananas like sponge cake, this cake is very popular and has become a favorite snack for many people, especially in our area, especially if given a little pandan leaf fragrance, the cake becomes crispy and delicious.

Banana sponge cake has a crunchy texture on the outside and soft on the inside, making it a perfect snack choice. The process of making it is also very easy and fast, so it is suitable for those of us who want to present delicious snacks without the hassle among the family, especially if at social gatherings and customs it is often or easily obtained at the event. Just prepare simple ingredients in the kitchen in a short time, we can enjoy banana sponge cake that is like puffed again delicious and appetizing when tasting it with our beloved family.

Ingredients that must be prepared such as:

  • Bananas (or other bananas) to taste, ripe
  • 150 gr wheat flour (Segitiga Biru brand)
  • 75 gr rice flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder or liquid
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp sesame (optional, for additional flavor)
  • 250 ml water (adjust until the dough is thick)
  • 2-3 tbsp melted butter

1. Peel the bananas. Even though the skin is black, the banana flesh is still sweet and delicious. Slice the bananas according to taste, not too big or small.

2. Make sure the bananas are really soft, mix the wheat flour, rice flour, salt, granulated sugar, vanilla, baking powder, and instant yeast. If you like, add sesame for a more delicious taste.

3. Add water little by little, stir until the dough is evenly mixed and thick. Add melted butter, stir again until evenly distributed.

4. Put the dough into a container. Stir slowly so that the bananas are evenly coated with the dough, try to make it really even so that the dough is evenly distributed when cooked later.

If the dough is really perfectly cooked, let it sit for a while so that when we open the Sempu it does not experience defects or dents, Sponge cake is very soft and crispy, especially if we like sweet flavors, if we like chocolate flavors, we can sprinkle black series on top, it looks more beautiful and delicious.
