Nama tersebut besaral dari bahasa Aceh. Makanan ini merupakan makanan dengan rasa yang enak apalagi di campur dengan inti kelapa yang berbahan dasar parutan kelapa dan gula.
Makanan ini dibungkus dengan dengan daun pisang. Kita ketahui bahwa daun pisang memiliki keunggulan tersendiri untuk membukus makanan. Keharuman yang khas dari daun pisang akan berpadu dengan beras ketan tersebut.
Selain dengan campuran inti kelapa biasanya kita juga dapat menikmati bulukat dengan buah pisang uang sudah matang. Ini dilakukan untuk memperoleh rasa manis. Karena makan bulukat paling cocok dengan rasa manis.
