Do you job, DRAIN!
So we have this concrete slab (that I think is an addition) out the back door of the house. In the slab is a drain but only in the noun sense of the word. It definitely does NOT drain (verb) any of the water that falls on it. :(
As you can see below, it's a small lake when it rains. I would guess the house is slightly lower than it used to be which may be causing the slant to the concrete.
From the drain is a very thin (1/2" maybe) drain pipe. How do I know? Well, you can't see it in the picture but the pipe just sticks out of the ground where my yellow line ends!? And I don't think the exit is much lower than the entrance.
While it is annoying to have to wade through a pond to get out the back door when it rains, it is not a big problem so I will not be breaking concrete to try to fix this. I am wondering if it's worth the trouble to dig up the rest of the pipe and try to replace it in a deeper trench so it has a chance to actually drain.
Any ideas, theories, suppositions, anecdotes, limericks, jokes or riddles would be appreciated. Well, limericks are not appreciated, accepted, but not appreciated.
They probably didn’t pack it in stone which caused it to get clogged with dirt. No way break the concrete. But anything past that i would replace the pipe and donit the right way. While you have it open you can probably flush out what’s left with a spray nozzle on a hose.
Clogged pipe?
I have a french drain in my garage, most worthless drain every. I need to push out inches of water every morning in the winter and if I wash it in the summer. I need to dig it out and see if I can make it any better.
Yeah, I need to get the snake from pop-in-law but I keep forgetting (plus I don't want to do it).
