How and Why I use Steemvoter

There has been a lot of controversy around bots and steemit, but I instantly liked steemvoter.com when I first used it.

Unlike comment bots or other things I find detestable, it makes sense if you have some Steem Power (SP), to use a upvote bot at least part time.

This post is inspired by Stackin, and he simply talked about his use of steemvoter and why he uses it, and how people end up on his voting ranks.

I'll break it down a little more so those not familiar can take a look with me at how it operates and what I use it for...

FAVORITES:

I keep a list of favorite posters. I won't show you my list, but let's just say I have a list, and if you are on it, you may know already. It's interesting to see some posts, and they have 1 view, and 20 comments, and 100 upvotes. I guess that is partially to do with upvote bots, but not entirely. I suspect the views and comments are not entirely accurate, as how is it possible to have 1 view and 20 comments?

I like to keep a list of favorite posters, and get by their blogs to see their work on a regular basis. However, I know that the HOT list and so forth work on these posts getting immediate reactions, and thus supposedly, if a post gets > $3 in upvotes, in the first 30 minutes, it's supposed to end up on the Hot list. I don't know if that's really true, and I've never been able to verify it (I see my posts on the Hot list regardless sometimes), so if you are familiar with this algo and know how it works, please leave a comment on this post.

RULES:

People talk about how their steemvoter puts them in the red and they have to stop steemvoter sometimes, to recharge. This will depend on what percentage of vote you are dishing out to each person on your list of auto upvotes, and it will also depend on how much SP you have.

Notice Steemvoter has a Rules section, and here is where you will add each person to your list, under your voting account. The rules section is also where you can assign a percentage of your vote (10%, 20%, etc) and also you can tell steemvoter how long to wait after the post first appears (per author) before the auto-upvote is posted. (Usually 1-30 minutes) The less time you wait to upvote, the more of the vote is actually received by the author, vs the upvoter. Waiting 15 minutes may be a half/half split, if I am correctly informed.. but there are also upsides to waiting less and more than 15 minutes.

LOGS:

My favorite part of Steemvoter, is that it generates a log file for me, of stories (with hyperlinks) I have auto-upvoted. I use this as a reading list, to later read the articles I am voting on, and sometimes leave comments, or just to make sure I read what I'm voting on ;-)

I really do like my log file, and this helps me focus on reading the people I have committed to supporting on steemit. It also helps me find some of the best content on steemit, and I enjoy keeping up with my log files on a daily basis.

Sort:

Never tried steemvoter. I heard a lot about it, but was always afraid to let someone to makes vote for from security point of view. What are your thoughts, about security? Shall we give access from different apps to our account?

Steemvoter only requires a POST private key, and that's fairly safe to give out.
I would alway check out any tool before giving it access to my account. I think in this case it's a well known member of the community that runs this site @penguinpablo, so there is more trust that way..

There are other tools that want more access, using an Active key. I spent a lot of time researching that to find it's usually OK to give out credentials, if there are discussions and other's have checked out the security for the community at large.

Yah steem voter is good but i have reduced the use of it because i have noticed that some of the rules i auto-upvote doesn't come to me at the end of the payout period.

Kind of hard to believe; but possible. In general, not sure the system cares if you upvote yourself, or if you have a bot do it; it should payout the same regardless at the end of period. If you can document this, it's probably a bug, and needs to be fixed; we would all appreciate hearing about it if you can track it down.

Yah it might probably be a bug. I am planning to lodge a complain about it in steem voter support on the discord channel.

Going to start using this myself a bit as it is getting harder and harder to follow and give credit to so many great people here on steemit

I had joined steemvoter but don't know how it works can you give any link about steemvoter

You always have great posts YOGI! I always tend to find them just seconds after you post them also haha.

It is true you can get lost in the fog of posts if you follow too many people, not sure how people can actually steem efficiently when following 2000+ people.

I agree.
Did you manage to get your account back on track somehow?
Did you write about it?

I assume we could all learn from your mistakes if you want to share your experience.

Basically Yogi the steemit chat people were so rude, that I just focused on commenting and resteeming, I cant post still, I try, and then steemcleaners comes and down votes its and it goes greyed out. Annoying yes, but I am still able to fight the system and comment and contribute and RESTEEM!

I believe the "hot" page is till 8 hours of the post's age. Depending on the post's value and the age (0-8 hours) it determines how high you are on the list.
Waiting 15m is not exactly a half/half split, it means you get 50% of the potential curation reward pool (Which I believe is 25%). This means that after 30m you get the full curation reward, but if someone else votes before you with significant SP (compared to yours) you barely get any curation rewards at all.

I hope to be worthy enough one day :)

Very informative about steemvoter. Thanks. Follow back.. Check my post out

Thank you for sharing it
Really you are the best
Don't stop sharing
Resteem and followed 💜

This is interesting so I am following and resteeming.
