What if all human beings jumped at the same time?

in #space7 years ago

Thomas Bennett and others ask: "What would happen if everyone in the ground stood next to each other as far as possible and jumped and then landed at the same moment?" This is one of the most famous questions, highlighted through my website (scienceblogs) straight dope article, which is a branch of mechanics, which describes the concept of physical movement of objects without regard to the cause of motion, such as blocks or forces. But, however, we must publish the full story and take a closer look at this hypothesis:

All the inhabitants of the earth were moved at the beginning of this scenario to one place.
Where the public takes up a space equal to that of Rhode Island in the northeastern United States. But it is not necessary to use the ambiguous phrase "Rhode Island-like space." This scenario is specific to us and we are free to do so, to be more precise: they are already on Rhode Island.

At one point in the afternoon, everyone jumped.

But we humans are insignificant compared to the Earth, and we are not actually affected by it, because the Earth has outweighed us by more than ten trillion. And now - given our ability - we can jump vertically up to half a meter at our best. However, even if the earth is solid and inflexible, and responds directly, it will be pushed down less than the width of the atom. After that, everyone drops back to Earth.

In practice, this process transfers a lot of energy to the earth, but it spreads over a large area, causing no more than leaving the footprints on the ground. There is a slight pulse of pressure in the cortex of the North American continent, which dissipates leaving little impact. All of these feet are spoken when the earth hits a noisy haze that lasts for several seconds. In the end, without warning, the air becomes static. After a few seconds, everyone around them is looking at strangers, with anxious looks spread among them.

Someone comes out to call, but the phone does not pick up any signal! And then a second gets the same for all the inhabitants of the earth. Even those who have phones that are compatible with the towers in the area, all phones around the world have no signal; all the networks have collapsed under an unprecedented load. The mechanisms lying outside Rhode Island then begin to stop working.
After the jump, everyone starts packing their bags to leave. TF Green Airport in Warwick, on the island itself, can carry several thousand passengers every day, assuming that the airport has the highest equipment (including the dispatch of reconnaissance missions to collect fuel), the airport can Run 500% of its capacity for years without any defect.

The equation does not change much for the rest of the Rhode Island airports, or even for the rail system in the region. Crowds are climbing aboard the ships, but they will be challenged for their food and water needs. There are a lot of people on the island suffering from a suffocating car crisis, perhaps the biggest car crisis in the history of the planet, because most cars are crowded with people, and the lucky ones Be able to escape the crisis and wander in deserted ways.

Some may arrive beyond New York or Boston before they run out of fuel, and because of the lack of electricity at this point; instead of finding a fuel station, it seems easier to leave the car and steal another one instead. Who can stop you? All the inhabitants of the Earth (including the police) are on Rhode Island.

Then, part of the crowd spreads out, to South Massachusetts and Connecticut. It is not possible to match the language of any two people meeting at that moment, and hardly anyone knows anything in that region. All the grocery stores have been emptied, the collection of fresh water is not an easy task, and there is no system that is efficient enough to distribute it.

Thus, Rhode Island becomes a cemetery for billions within a few weeks. In the end, after this catastrophic scenario, survivors are scattered all over the world struggling to build new civilizations on the ruins of the world. Our human race has shrunk, and the population of the Earth has shrunk dramatically because of this task, although we have not affected the earth under any circumstance or moved its orbit,

After this scenario, it still rotates in the same orbit before anyone jumps. But at least, now we know what might happen!
