Study found that climate change could potentially make coffee more expensive and worse in taste.
Being a massive coffee enthusiast that consumes a lot more coffee on a daily basis than it is healthy to do so, I cannot imagine a life without coffee.
People know that climate change is happening but nobody takes into consideration how it's affecting them. We read articles about how global warming and intense storms, more often that not we've never experienced them ourselves. So, think about how it affects us directly through coffee.
Growing Coffee
Just because coffee grows in hot climate areas does not mean that it will grow in any hot area. The place where they are grown has a great effect on it's taste. In the latest string of studies, a report suggests that in Ethiopa most of the lands that is used for coffee agriculture will not be suitable anymore soon. Which is very concerning for us coffee enthusiasts as changing the place where coffee is grown will have a direct impact on its taste.
The future
Now, if the current rate of climate change continues on earth, we could be looking at these effects coming about very shortly. Unless we have some proactive measures we can expect coffee shortages which will cause the prices to rocket. Back in 2014, when Brazil had a drought, coffee prices rose 100% or double, imagine what will happen to the prices of not just coffee but most agricultural products when it happens in every country.
We shouldn't let this become the future of the sweet sweet coffee.
A world of coffee addicts threatened by the loss of their drug... quick, do something about climate change!
Maybe there will be more action once word of this gets out. ;-)
Lol, that is true
Maybe the addicts could change something for once
