THE LAST BREATHE OF A TRUE HERO... #1

Playing the hero had always been an idea in my head. I mean how wouldn't it, i was raised with watching tons of super hero movies and cartoon. I even had my very own super heroes a.k.a mom and dad. It came to me like a first language. I could not ignore it.

My imagination would go into hyper drive and i could be saving the planet from eminent doom or having lightening speed that i could make a full earth circumnavigation in split seconds or commanding the elements. It was all i ever wanted to be... A hero.

"Athena! You need to eat Athena. You need your strength". "Thanks mom, i will." Yeah, that was the voice that always pulled me back to reality. Yup, its me, Athena. Not a hero or anybody at all. Just a simple, person....Well, i have all this machines around me, so maybe not so simple.

I have a very serious degenrative genetic cellular disease thats been eating me away since i was born. Some days are good but then others, well, I'll leave that to the doctors.
I stay up here in my little cube which has quite an impeccable view. My room is different in many ways. It is highly pressure sensitive and is attached to a decontamination chamber. The doctors say the tiniest bacteria can kill me. So everything goes through decon before it gets to me, even my own parents.

My room is situated in on the left wing of the house which is closed off to everyone but four select individuals, myself included. I know right, paranoia. But alas my parents are not taking any chances. They are Professor Mr and Professor Mrs Boyde. Yup, that's right of Boyde Global Pharmacy and Future Aviation Technology.

Today is my day out and by out i mean to the hospital built specially for my case and full of the best minds in the world. Everyone there was hired specially by my parents to help save me. They all got to play hero except for me. Going there was the highlight of my month. It was a day i always looked forward to because i get to see outside at least through the translucent bubble i was carried in. But it was everything to me.

Today, felt too good to be true, we did not go through the normal boring route. We went the long way and cut across the city. I was overwhelmed with joy. The colors, lights, trees, people. I had no idea the day was gonna be this good but whats to come, i was not prepared for. No one was.

We had arrived at the hospital and the usual entourage ushered me in with hazmat suits and my parents followed. I was used to it. Been a usual thing for 21years now. The hospital always looked bigger and newer each time. Maybe, its because my mom demands a weekly extreme power clean up and monthly replacement of equipment. But it always intrigues me.

We went up the ramp and unto the special elevator to what i loved to call my lair. Despite everything going as it always did i couldn't help but feel something was amiss. I could not quite put my finger on it. "Athena, how are you today"? The usual voice of Doctor Ravy. My very own Alfred in my lair. You know? From Batman.

Normally, mom and dad take out today to make sure they follow up on all that has been found about my condition and the extent to which i had degenerated. But just like i said, today was nothing like that.

And thats when it happened, the alarms went off and security protocol "infinity stone" was initiated for the very first time. I knew what it was and what it implied. They had come again and this time they would not take it....

That's all for today guys

If you like it, you know what to do
