Social Networking Platform: We have responsibilities!

in Project HOPE4 years ago

Recently, I read several news against faceboook that facebook is failure to stop the spread of hate speech and fake news. In this consequences, big advertisers brands like Unilever and Coca-Cola are moving away from the platform.

I am using different social networking site particularly facebook in every day. As like me many people are using it in their daily life. Facebook and other social media are having a huge influence on people's lives. According to me, social media is extreme powerful tools to share and publish something instantly. Every user of social media is becoming a citizen journalist.

I noticed that many people are engaged to spread of false and misleading information on social site. In this case, the biggest danger is the lack of accountability through social media. But we cannot impose all responsibilities on authorities of social medias. We have to take responsibilities for my own works. Why will we spread of false and hate speech?

Is it not our Distorted mentality?

Every social media has their own polices and there is no evidence of promote to spread of false and hate speech on social media but many people are trying to use platforms like Facebook for their own benefit and show immature mentality.

We have responsibilities on Social medias!

  1. We should refrain from publishing ugly, insulting, distorted and baseless news and images.
  2. News that is satirical, disrespectful or hateful to any religious or other community may not be published and share.
  3. It is necessary to stay away from spreading communal hatred.

We should all behave responsibly through social media. There is no cost to publish, no surveillance of the editor, or no financial risk so I can't express what I want through social media.

I used social media but right now I am beginning to feel some social media like Facebook as an example are tuning the activities of their users to please what they want and what to desire on it. If one is going against their policies, it is not acceptable and vice versa

We are in times where "political correctness" borders on censorship. The networks were created for people to express themselves, and I deeply believe that it is better to educate the user by redirecting them to the sources and not trying to catch ghosts.

Yes! you said really well.
