5 of the Most Anticipated Games of 2019 - Gaming top 5 - Part 90.
2019 is finally here, and with it comes a whole host of new games to look forward too.
2018 had a mix of great and terrible games, some of which were just huge disappointments and others better than expected. Regardless, 2019 is a whole new year and there is a shit ton of new games set to be released. Yes there are the predictable hype trains and others with a simple trailer. Now with 'Ray Tracing' being the new flavour in PC tech, you can guarantee there are going to be some insane looking games that put everything else before them to shame.
So here are 5 of the most anticipated games coming in 2019.
5 – The Division 2.
Xbox One, PS4 and PC
March 15.
- The first Division game was a break out title for Ubisoft and although it didn't live up to the hype, it was still a pretty good game all round. Now Ubisoft are trying again with a follow up title that, as they say, will satisfy any gamers needs.
The problem being is that Ubisoft have a tendency to pander to the whims of the stock holders and investors, not the gamers. This game has only been in production for 2 years, which from my point of view is not enough time to deliver an in depth open world shooter experience. This gives me pause when it releases as Ubisoft have a very bad habit of releasing incomplete or buggy games, most of which are patched several times in the first week alone.
Regardless, I am hopeful for this game as it is an excellent concepts for a shooter game, and I did enjoy playing the first title on the kids Xbox.
4 – Anthem.
Xbox One, PS4 and PC
February 22.
- This game looks amazing in all the trailers and teasers that have flooded social media over the last couple of years. With it being developed by BioWare you can almost guarantee that it will play just as good as it looks. However... EA are at the helm as a publisher and with their recent history with microtransactions and defying governments over gambling laws, there is a huge potential for this dickless corporation to pander to the investors and slam this ever growing problem inside full priced games full of unwanted pay to win / microtransactions.
Back to the game, it is a very unique concept of combining a third person shooter style with RPG elements in a vast open world that can be played as a single player or co-op. What makes the game more appealing is the ability to customize the exosuits on your character, change weapons, abilities and super human abilities too. Something that has only been seen in very few games before but not in an environment and play style like this one.
This is a game that I will be buying as soon as it releases... IF... EA's corporate dickless dicks leave well alone and not ruin the experience with unwanted shit that us, the gamers, DO NOT WANT!
3 – Crackdown 3.
Xbox One, PS4 and PC
February 15
- Oh fucking GOD I need this game to be released. It is a game that has been teased for years but has been put on the back burner, suspended development and delayed. Now finally, FINALLY there is a semi permanent release date for this hugely anticipated game. Just don't hold your breath because Sumo Digital, the development studio behind the franchise have delayed it before and put back the release date.
The game is a one of a kind creation that utilizes cloud computing in a very unique way. If you so chose, you could essentially bring the entire city down and turn it to rubble. Although destructible environments is nothing new in the gaming world, it has not been done on a scale such as this and the reason why it needs cloud computing to achieve this. Aside from the outlandish and frankly, fucking awesome mechanics, the game is based 10 years after the events of of crackdown 2 (coincidently, almost 10 years since the game was released) and a mysterious organisation has cut power to the entire world. It is a step back in time to when gaming was simple, enjoyable and effective with boss fights and a simple compelling story. But now with that modern touch.
2 – Resident Evil 2
Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
January 25.
- No it is not the original just being released as a classic, it has not been remastered as so many other classic games, it has been remade from the ground up using the same game engine as that used in Resident Evil 7 so you know it is going to look fantastic. From what we have seen from the E3 trailers from 2018, it looks brilliant and a great looking reimagining of the original while keeping that nostalgia feel about it.
Even before its release, the game has already received awards, one of which was 'Best in Show' from game critics awards.
The trailer looks as though the game is a return to the 'Horror' over action aspect that the original games were best known for. It looks beyond good and the narrative, although the same, it has been updated to help make the poo shoot out of your ass when playing. I can not wait to play this game, it was one of my favourites back in the 90's and I just hope the devs have done it justice.
1 – Death Stranding.
PS4 Only
2019 TBD
- Yes I know this game has not gotten an official release date, but it is pegged to be released in the second half of 2019. but it is a hugely anticipated game that fans of Hideo Kojima are hopeful for a 2019 release.
Hideo Kojima and his dev team have very tight lips when it comes to this game. Very little is known past the teaser trailers that are more of a character introduction than anything. There have been a few mechanics introduced too in these trailers that are nothing like what has been seen in gaming ever. Essentially you can not die, the only other game that came close to this mechanic was the Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver games from the 90's, yet is nothing like it at the same time.
There are a ton of new concepts for this open world/other worldly game that star some of the biggest names in TV and Cinema such as Norman Reedus known for Walking Dead, Guillermo del Toro is one of Cinemas best know Horror Directors, Mads Mikkelsen for Dr, Strange, and Lindsay Wagner who is best known for the Bionic Woman from the 70's. When combined together, it is a recipe for something fantastic. Although a grouping of big names like this is rare, when it does happen, you can almost be sure that the game will be awesome, just take a look at GTA San Andres that is still popular today.
The visuals in this game are, well, some of the best in gaming. No ifs, and's or buts, it is a fantastic looking game. Knowing what the god of game development, Kojima has produced in the past, this game is set to be a mind bending journey that will be addictive and immersive. However, With Kojima having total control over the development and publishing, there are no time constraints which most other modern triple A games suffer from, this means that Kojima will release the game once he is satisfied that it is perfect. With it being in development since 2015, there is hope in the gaming community that Kojima will release the game later this year. And if he does, I will go out and buy a PS4 Pro, just so i can play this game in all its glory. There are even rumors that the game will be a launch title for the PS5. Either way, it is going to be fucking awesome.
With so much to look forward to in 2019, it is hard to choose just a small handful of games for this list. But regardless, after some researching, these games appear to be the most anticipated out there at present.
I will however be continuing with my monthly top 5 new games to keep you all informed of which games you should be looking out for, and there are a fair few fantastic titles to be looking out for this coming year. Even more so with Nvidias new RTX (Ray Tracing) technology available to developers, giving us visuals only ever seen in cinema.
Which game are you most looking forward too this year?

I'm personally DYING for Resident Evil 2. I remember playing it with my dad when I was too young to understand what was happening, and the game being remastered with the sort of gameplay I enjoy the most of (RE4) It's just a breath of fresh air I needed.
Also, Death Stranding is something i'm really hyped for only for the Kojima factor. We all want this to do great, it just has to.
Great post and great games, man!
cheers dude.

Gamers (about Anthem):
EA Games: "Ah okay, got it. Fill the game with pay to win elements, shoehorn politics bullshit, charge you 500 bucks to fire a gun for 12 seconds, 300 bucks to fly 10 feet high, might as well charge you for complaining. That's what you want, right? No? Then don't buy the game, you uneducated morons!"
BioWare: "Well, it's been an honour working with you guys."
that sounds about right. However EA owns the BioWare studio as well as others such as dice, popcap, respawn, ghost, among others, and have the power to basically shoehorn anything they want in the game. just take a look at Battlefield V, Battlefront II, Mass effect Andromeda, and every popcap game on the current market.... all of which have microtransactions, some very aggressive and some that are illegal. BioWare, even though its a separate entity, they still have to answer to EA . if not, EA will liquidate the studio as they have done to sooooo many others in the past.
