When things don't go according to plan
I woke up today expecting a bunch of things to happen and not one of them happened. I am still waiting on the placement survey, which is starting to frustrate me some, as I was under the impression it would be in my inbox today and my general contractor said no tomorrow. I know the surveyor told me Monday as I wrote about it in my blog. But it is what it is, and that means I am just playing a waiting game.
It is frustrating when you want to get things done but can't because what I need to get done is dependent on other people. This is what I am waiting for to get my permits, so we can break ground. We are also waiting for the appraisal for our financing to come back so we can close. We really hope we get to close before we break ground, though it will mean less money we would have to take out in the loan, we really would like to keep our savings intact for those emergency situation. We don't want to have more out of pocket than our down payment plus our land.
This process is as frustrating as finding an already built home in our price range and worth the money. We didn't find one we liked enough to buy it is why we are building instead. I really wish we had more time so it wouldn't be as stressful but we don't and I am stressed to the max over this build. But I know it will be worth it in the end. I remember how stressed I was when we were looking to buy our first house and not being able to find the right one. Then the disappointment when we finally did settle for something thinking it was a great house to find that there was all kinds of problems the inspection missed.
And though new homes can have issues too, there is less likely to be major issues like you can get when you buy something that was built years ago. So though this process is stressful, I am trying to keep in mind when it is over we are going to have a brand new home, we will be the first people to live in it, and soon our youngest will be flying the nest, so that should cut down on damage children can do to your home. Seriously young children can be destructive at times normally just making messes, but they sometimes like to make wall's pretty. I am thankful we are over that stage with our kids.
I been thinking about the location for the green house, though I think I will end up putting that on the other side of the property then how I photo shopped it in and I am likely going to build my own so it won't look pretty like the one shown.
When things don't go as planned I tend to try to focus on the end goal. Through all the stress I know that in the end everything will be worth it. I just got to get through the next few weeks. Then I can start focusing on other things I want to focus on, but am just too busy to add an additional stuff to my already full plate. I got this just a few more weeks. I can do this. And if I can't I will just fake it till I make it, cause after all that is my motto when I don't feel up to it.

Yes it's a long process indeed...Hang in there and focus on how awesome it will be when your done, then smile.
Oh man, the frustration of waiting for contractors! I know the feeling.
Just take a deep breath, try to roll with the punches, and keep moving.
But don't be afraid to punch back! If those guys think you're a pushover they'll push your project to the bottom of the pile.
they know better I am on them daily and will be on them first thing in the morning, they have no clue but I am not one that can be pushed around and I will find other people to do the work if they don't do it.
Sounds like you've got this! ;-)
Maybe I'll hire you as a project manager next time we need to get something built!
It is less stressful when it is someone else job that is for sure.
When things don't go according to plan then plan according to how they go!
