RE: Litecoin's Market Cap Increases to Between 55% To Bitcoincash in The Flappening

in #zappl8 years ago

Most are not into Wright thankfully. There's just a very loud minority, in the minority that speculate in or use Bitcoin Cash. Plenty of the developers involved detest Craig Wright and there is genuine concern in the community over his patents and BS he pulled.

Bitcoin Cash is not a pump and dump, might I add. It's an honest attempt at rebooting "Bitcoin" as it was originally designed. Can't help that all sorts of shady/problematic people get involved to pump/push it. Disappointing as it can be, it would be a lot worse if no one else cared about it.

I've said for some time that neither chain is going to die any time soon. They will find their own niche and go from there. The only question is the two sides in the conflict that led up to the split can accept reality as it is and move on

So far, neither side has kept their heads cool.

In the Segwit+Legacy ("Core") camp there have been repeated excuses made for silencing those that suggest there might be more to the split than implied by the new "thought leaders" on Twitter and Youtube. In online forums and at conferences, anyone who is a "big blocker" (a term we'd have laughed at just a couple years ago) is labeled as part of a "bcash social attack on Bitcoin" etc.

In the Bitcoin Cash camp, anyone who ever says something good about Bitcoin Cash tends to be treated as a god (for the moment) by the masses that are starved for anything less negative than a "bcash" tweet or some rant about how "BCash is owned by Roger, Jihan and fake Satoshi". Including unfortunately, sometimes and by some people fake Satoshi. Anyone who criticizes Bitcoin (S+L network) or Lightning Network is likewise largely viewed as a hero. This is a big problem obviously, but not as strange to see in a smaller community where there may still be a lot of disagreement not being aired constantly, as it would be to see on a much larger scale or in a community where the developers apparently have a lot of time left over in their day to spend on social media.

It all saddens me, to see the community split in this way. Even if we disagree on the best roadmap from here on, it shouldn't be impossible live and let live.

That was the spirit that we experienced in 2009-2010 and that got so many excited in the first place. "Permission-less", distributed, market incentives based, technology. Before the hype word "decentralized" was even thought up. It almost seems that with so many ICOs and altcoins around, the notion of just how radical a PoW voted blockchain is has been lost.
