What is going on with TheDailySteemIt?

As you might have noticed we haven’t been doing as many posts as usual lately. We are in the middle of re-vamping our marketing efforts around TheDailySteemIt and bringing new talent on board. You'll see things like contests ( like the one listed below ) is being introduced along with some other changes. We even had one of our writers get interviewed by SteemIt Celeb @papa-pepper! We are going to create a different approach on how we grow TheDailySteemnit byWe are thinking of doing a bi-weekly publication to give this publication more exposure. What do you think ? Contest rules

• Visit @paradise-found NFL post on Tuesday for weekly contest game list
• One entry per contestant
• Entries placed as a comment to weekly contest post
• All picks must be placed by Friday 9 PM EST
• Winners announced on Mondays
• Weekly contest posted on Tuesdays
• NFL games listed for contest only
• Contestants must pick a team to win each game
• Contestants also must guess total score of Green Bay Packer game
• Whoever has the most correct picks wins
• In the case of a tie, whoever has the closest GB Packer total score wins
• If a tie occurs with the same total score, first contestant to enter the contest wins

An AI That Uses Bitcoin's Blockchain To Help Find Victims Of Sex-Trafficking

A new and perhaps unexpected use is being given to Bitcoin; Rebeca Portnoff, a Ph.D. candidate at UC Berkeley and her colleagues have developed a new tool with the intention of providing law enforcement authorities help in finding the whereabouts of sex-traffickers.

The tool uses machine learning as a form to detect common patterns in any suspicious ads placed on Backpage.com, then, it uses the publicly available information left on the blockchain by the use of Bitcoin, in order to help identify who placed them.

Backpage is an advertisement website; the second biggest classified ad listing site, where people can place ads for all kinds of things, be it goods or services. However, in recent times, the site has also become associated with sex ads and sex trafficking.
The US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has stated that the majority of child sex trafficking cases they receive are related to ads on Backpage.

Due to this reputation, credit card companies stopped allowing the use of their services on the website, making Bitcoin the only payment method accepted to place adverts. It is because of that, that Portnoff's tool can use the Bitcoin blockchain in order to trace the wallet addresses that are associated and recorded alongside with every transaction, to identify which wallet was used to place the suspicious advert.

This tool was already used to help find and convict the trafficker who kidnapped Kubiiki Pride’s daughter; a 13-year-old girl who was held against her will and forced to work as an escort for 270 days, until her mother found her on an ad on Backpage.

Successfully prosecutions such as this one are not common, however, the man who kidnapped, drugged, beat, raped and sold Pride's daughter was sentenced to only five years in jail.

North Korea Does It Again: Launches Missile Over Japan

North Korea continues with his provocations by firing a missile over Japan. Said missile was fired just before dawn in Japan, setting off the warning sirens in the northern part of the country and urging people to seek preemptive shelter. Today's launch is the first time North Korea has successfully managed to fire a ballistic missile over Japan. Regarding the launch, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that it represented a most "a most serious and grave threat", while President Donald Trump released a statement declaring North Korea's latest message was received "loud and clear".

This would be the fourth missile that North Korea has fired in the past four days, as part of a series of ballistic missiles tests done in order to try and showcase their strength, as well as serve as a provocation. South Korea responded to this, by conducting bombing drill intended to demonstrate to its sister republic that they have the capability "to punish and destroy the North Korean leadership". It seems the tensions between the United States, South Korea, Japan, and North Korea will only continue to grow in the coming days. Meanwhile, China; North Korea's major ally, has asked for restraint from all parties involved in order to avoid the conflict from escalating further.
