The 2010 Story of The Greens | ... hundreds educated and engaged to care for nature
The Story of The Greens Part 1.

In 2010, @thegreens was founded by a visionary grassroots Environmental Activist, @mr-greens.
@mr-greens founded @thegreens because of the improper waste management practices and illegal open dump sites that had sprouted in the communities, the absence of environmental education and clubs in schools and communities as well as because of rapid deforestation that was taking place at that time.
He first registered the organization as a club of Do Something and then a member of Clean Up the World during which he conceived his first project, Beautiful Clean Green Schools (BECLEGS).
BECLEGS was implemented during the 2010 Clean Up the World Weekend at Gratitude Bilingual Nursery and Primary School in Mile 3 Nkwen, Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon.

There @mr-greens and The Greens' Team demonstrated passion for environmental education and action as they were able to educate, inspire and engage more than 300 pupils to cleanup, fix-up and green their school environment.

After they spoke about the importance of a beautiful, clean and green school environment, they coordinated and engaged the pupils of the institution in general cleaning, picking up of litter and the planting of 1000 ornamental trees and flowers.

This led to the creation of The Greens’ first environmental club known as Gratitude Green Club.
The event was such a great success in 2010 and @thegreens is proud to say that the work at Gratitude Bilingual Nursery and Primary School is still alive today.
The trees and flowers have grown big and Gratitude Bilingual Nursery and Primary School is beautiful, clean and green school till date.

In November 2010, Mr. Green succeeded to register The Greens as a not-for-profit, non-sectarian and apolitical youth environ-agricultural and health organization.
In 2010, The Greens implemented her pioneer project that realized the following;
- planted 1000 ornamental trees and flowers,
- created 01 Green Club (Environmental Club)
- educated more than 300 pupils of Gratitude Bilingual Nursery and Primary School Mile 3 Nkwen about hygiene and sanitation and environmental education,
- and got officially registered: Reg.No 055/e.29/1111/VOL.8/APPB
