The Hive. How many people to turn the lights on?
The Hive Is the light bulb on or off
Can you tell what I am drawing before you reach the end?

When will someone turn the light on? Maybe more important is, when will we take notice someone turned the light on?
I am using the words of this joke, loosely in this post and realise this is probably not what the words mean. Someone had to think these jokes up though and there had to be a reason why it was deemed as funny.

A few of these jokes would be:
How many programmers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None, That's a hardware problem.

How many graduate students does it take to change a light bulb?
Only one, but it takes nine years.

How many professors does it take to change a light bulb?
Only one, but they get three technical reports out of it.

How many Psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb?
Only one, but the bulb has got to really WANT to change.
In these jokes there is some kind of characterization going on. A type of person, though not all in the same profession will behave in the same manner. Characteristics are placed over the people who take up those professions.
Regardless of the character, I would like to dissect the light bulb part out of context. While we can see a character representation, what does the light bulb represent?
The phrase,
The lights are on but there is no one home. That can be me sometimes, when I hear something said in the ramble shows and my mind takes on its own journey. By the time I end the journey with something to say, the topic will have changed four or five times and then ping a light comes on.
The first thing I think of when a light goes on is, Oh it's brighter now. From out of the darkness I can now see. Taken this new enlightenment as the light going on. The gaining of knowledge or assembling of thought becomes the light.
Maybe the light of knowledge should of never been turned on. If so we would not be doing the things we are doing today. The world being a better place for any reason is debatable as we would not be debating this world if it was not the evolutionary road we walked.
Can we turn on the lights of society. Make a bulb shine so bright it is the bulb everyone will see. When we look and we see what we see will we turn around cause it is not what we want to see. Will we still want to walk the same road we have being walking? Knowing where it is taking us, will we have a choice to create a new road.
Did you guess the picture?
Do we want someone to turn the light on? Who do we want to turn the light on? Will one more light in a world of bulbs make any difference.
This little light of mine,
I'm gonna let it shine.

I suppose I am a bit of a troublemaker.
If someone asks me whether the light bulb is ON or OFF... I point out that it's replaceable.

How many Steemians does it take to change a light bulb?
All of us! It should take all of us!
Beautiful post! Resteemed!
Thank you. My attempt at serious wit .
I enjoyed the programmer joke the best haha.
Haha. I couldn't resist putting that one in.
Damn-it turn that thing down you trying to blind me! (my first thought)
Or turned up in slow steady increments so as not to cause the above to happen. (a rheostat works wonders, it lets us adjust slowly, or blindingly fast)
Oh yes see the Damn-it line, society has been blinded and we the people did it. (get ten 10 year olds, ten 30 year olds and ten 60 year olds, they are the government for 5 years, then start again.) Why those ages you say? They are the age of the stubborn. No one can tell them what to think, so any consensus rules they come up with are going to be good rules.
Only if they are a tribunal as mentioned above, otherwise leave the lights off, and let people light their own way through the dark, I am tired of society, (other people), telling me what direction I am allowed to travel.
Not if the light is lost in the overglow of all the other lights. If the light stands alone and above the rest, and can cast it's glow toward those seeking a different path, then one more bulb might make a difference to at least a few that can see it's glow.
You read my mind so well sometimes.
The fool on the hill, sees the sun going down, but the eyes in his head, see the world spinning round...
Something somehow in your post reminded me of one of my favourite Beatles songs.
Lights go on in peoples' heads as they grow, in the form of paradigms, and most people have the same paradigms lit, while a few come to slightly different versions of them, and fewer still have paradigms that make it difficult to live together with the rest of society.
I veer between wanting to metathink about this all the time and perhaps make a small difference in the world somehow, and just wanting to enjoy a few hedonistic pleasures while I'm still alive and capable of enjoying them.

How many Mandelsages does it take to change a lightbulb?
At least 8 clones of him, just to make sure one of them will arrive at the conclusion that it is worth doing.
;P
I feel as long as we can remember there is another point of view, that has an equal value to our own. We have a chance to progress. All views are equal though some views can be more beneficial than others.
hehehehe you crack me up Jan ;) see you later today!
Happy to share a smile :)
My uncle drew this for me when I was a kid.
It is an old drawing why I felt it might catch many out through the post, That the post was written around light, I thoguht it would throw most people toward the bulb
This is such a cool post! I liked the jokes and the light-hearted banter! Great job on this fun, entertaining piece! 😊
That you enjoyed it makes my drawing effort all worth while.
