R&B singer Akon is building his own futuristic city in Africa, inspired by the Marvel superhero movie "Black Panther." Akon told the Associated Press that the $6 billion project will start next year to build a "real-life Wakanda" in Senegal, dubbed "Akon City." Born in the U.S. to Senegalese parents, Akon spent much of his childhood in the West African country where only 44% of rural households had electricity in 2018; his grandmother was still using candles to light her home.
