Cannabis and Everyday Life. Canna you Succeed??

in #cannabis7 years ago

Hello Steemians,

The Last Sage would like to take some time to express support for the cannabis community here on Steemit. Having a medical degree originally led me down the propaganda road on cannabis but in time I realized the truth about this wonderful plant.

Let me start with a little background. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident many years ago that would lead me on journey that can not be summarized in one blog. But a very long part of the story short, I endured 20+ fractures and was originally told I would never walk again. Of course this does not bode well when you are still in the earlier part of your life and you are an active person. So began my addiction to the pharmaceuticals that extended for nearly 10 years. Many times along the way I had friends tell me that I should try cannabis to help alleviate some of the pain and reduce the amount of pharma, but like many others, cannabis didn't do much for my pain. I would find that sometimes when I used cannabis that my pain would actually increase and that I would feel unstable mentally. So I continued to use the opioids and continued down a path that ultimately almost ended my life (and still may).

Eventually after terrible withdrawals related to long term pharmaceuticals I was able to finally wean myself from them. I decided at that point in life that I was going to begin a lifestyle that I had not been accustomed to. I was going to treat myself as a priority and begin to live a clean lifestyle. I suffered from chronic pain and still do, every minute of everyday, and yet I was trying to live my life with no drugs of any sort. I have so much pain on a daily basis that most people would check themselves into a medical facility for treatment. But believe it or not a person eventually finds a place and a way of life that allows them to exist in a fashion that is conducive to their ailment, and so it was with me. The problem that I had was that I had learned to tolerate the pain as long as I remained sedentary. Well that just fucking sucked!

So after being clean from all drugs for an extended period of time I decided that I would rather take a drug and be able to move than to be free of drugs and confined to my living space. This time around though I chose to treat myself. I was living in Hawaii, (known for killer bud) and I had a plethora of friends in my life that raised and used cannabis everyday. My best friend was one the most intelligent persons I had ever known and used cannabis everyday, sunup to sundown. I thought to myself, how does he maintain a job as an Astrophysicists and use cannabis in the process? I had been taught in medical school that cannabis was an elicit drug that destroyed brain cells and left you drooling in the corner, yet here was another PhD scholar and he used this drug religiously. So I said to myself lets go see another doctor, the kind that actually treats and prescribes cannabis and see if he can help me on my journey. And so I did.

The results turned out better than I expected. In the past when I would use cannabis the results were never what I wanted. I learned that different strains and different levels of cannabinoids effect each individual differently. I began to understand that cannabis was not Oxycontin, you could not just say one pill or one strain would work for everyone. Blanket coverage is what we look for in pharmaceuticals. It allows us to prescribe based on patient symptoms and understand what is to be expected as an outcome. Turn the masses into sheeple and lead them off to slaughter... Cannabis is different. Each person must build relationship with cannabis as she is not a drug, but a way of life. I have been using cannabis, and cannabis only, for many years now and I am healthier than have been in a long time. I was diagnosed with cancer, on top of everything else, 3 1/2 years ago. I refused western medical treatment and was told at that time that if I did not take chemo and radiation treatments that my life expectancy was 3-5 more years. As I said, I am healthier than I have been in many years. I will let you decide what that means...

Peace,
The Last Sage

Thx f0r this inspiring story. I will have to resteem this to keep on my mind. I seen my brother go through some rough pain and when he consumed cannabis he was happy and his pain was as if he never had pain.
He decides to give up cannabis for various reasons and now he is so sad;(
I just don't understand why he is fighting himself.
He could be so much happier and alleviate physical pain. I will continue to put it in his face from time to time.
Thx f0r this p0st again, hang in there and continue taking the right meds ;)

Thanks for the great reply @tradz. Cannabis may not be a cure all for everyone who uses it but I can say from a long and extensive history with this plant that there are many benefits with very few side effects. One of the biggest downfalls is that it is still considered illegal in some states and even in the states where it is legal, employers discriminate against those who medicate with it. I feel it will take a few more years but eventually the stigma that comes with being a "pothead" will start to be overlooked. Please send my best to your brother and if you have anything you would like to know about cannabis please ask! I have extensive knowledge and history with this wonderful plant.
