Coin of the Day 9-21-18

I have a special post that I'm going to get to do tomorrow. I didn't have time to get it ready for today, so we'll have to "settle" for this beautiful piece.

It's a one ounce silver round from the Scottsdale Mint. It has a King Lion on one side.

And a cross on the other side along with the inscription "In Omnia Paratus" which means "ready for anything."

This is one of the rounds that I could legitimately see playing chess with. I just need a few more of them and I can play.

This is a fairly simple round. I finally get credit for stacking something for weight, and not because it has a design that I love. Those commemorative ones would be difficult to part with, so it's important to have ones that I could trade. This helps accomplish this goal.

Come back tomorrow for some great coins that I plan on keeping for a very, very long time.

Do you have a favorite round/bar/coin that you stack for weight?

howdy sir noname! wow this is one heck of a coin, this is one of my favorite designs! I love the lion and I love the backside with a great design and nothing else.

Good to hear that you liked it. It's made by the Scottsdale Mint and is a round, not a coin, but you should be able to get a decent price on them if you decided to get some.

sir noname! Scottsale Arizona?

hiya, i like that motto, and i am becoming more used to different names now and scotsdale seems to have been mentioned a lot, think i prefer this coin to the bars i have seen, thank you for sharing, have a fab day, respect

It's a good motto for those who don't want to be caught off guard when things go wrong. Yes, Scottsdale is mentioned a fair amount in precious metals circles. Personal preference is great. It allows you to choose what you want.

I like Scottsdale Mint's products. They are classic to me and I have a few that I do not consider them simple bullion.

They have some really nice designs. This was the first one that I had seen in the store and they weren't putting any special premium on it, so I was happy to get the standard bullion price.

Really love the Scottsdale stuff....👍

They do some good work!

Nice stacker! I try to avoid the pretty ones, because I might not want to part with them, ROFLOL! But a few snuck in anyway.

I just bought a roll of silver Roosie dimes, and about a dozen are too pretty to be bullion coins. I will have to sort and grade those, and sell on Ebay, so I can buy some more bullion coins .

This one is nice, keep posting!

:)

Glad you liked it!

Where do you get your coins graded? How much does that cost and does it normally give enough of a profit that you're able to get much more silver than what you started with?

I have a coin collector friend who will grade them for me. If I send them in, I will loose money! But I plan on some very high definition pictures to include with the coins too.

Combined with the estimated mint state, it should work well.

:D

Does your friend send you a case and a label to attach so you can actually slab the coins? Or do you just put down that it's an estimate?

It will be listed as an estimate. Combined with good pictures of the actual coin. I can NOT afford to add $10 per coin for a grading / slab. If I do, they are right back to silver value.

@themanwithnoname wow that's a really beautiful lion coin there from Scottsdale mint! I reside in Canada and therefore would have more difficulty getting hold of that type of coin here. Hope to see more of your posts and always enjoy feedback on my artwork as well! :) Upvoted to support~

Thanks, I'm glad you like the lion round. You probably would have a little more difficulty getting one in Canada, but it shouldn't be too hard. Most of the mints have distribution up there somehow. The rounds are in enough supply that I wouldn't be surprised if a local shop ended up having some.

@themanwithnoname thanks for your recommendations! Yeah likely will require some scavenger hunting around to find it but no doubt I agree with you most likely there'll be shops that do sell it. :)
