I have no problem with Memes being rewarded as well - They obviously are a kind of art as well - at least in the eyes of many. There is a reason why memes can go viral and why they are popular.
But why on earth can @dmania not use a simple tool like the reverse picture search offered by Google and others? A person who is smart enough to create a bot definitely is not too stupid to do so.
Does @dmania just not care?
Seriously, I just don't get it.
I can do it a dozen times daily myself for @welcoming - How can a "company" with hundred times the SP not do that simple check before giving away serious money?

It's insane, isn't it? So many rewards are going to plagiarised posts with the @misterdelegation's delegation just because dmania is another app on the steem blockchain and not just a person who would upvote good content.
It looks much better in the eyes of investors though.

This is actually true, if everybody just uploads some random stuff (memes) from google pics and gets upvoted for practically nothing.... they will integrate some reverse picture search for sure in the long run. The reason might be, and I m just guessing, that they right now prefer to have content uploaded and as soon as steemit reaches certain size of members / content... this "feature" will be gone... hopefully.

The whole market is largely dependent on BTC and once the STEEM sinks in again below a penny, this platform is expected to become a ghost town of radioactive debris. Whales are not interested in rewarding those who are not a member of their inner circle anyway, now I am just here for the LOL.

There is a point behind the post calling out and bringing attention to something that is killing Steemit.
There is a massive amount of plagiarism being rewarded and posted daily. The typical dmanian posts 5+ times and steals their posts from Reddit, Facebook, Tumbler, Google.
Many of them have lots of accounts doing the same thing increasing their changes for those jackpot votes.
Yup. I know. I killed this account recently. The moron was taking posts straight off of the trending page and posting them as his own. Then he went over to the RT site and started pasting articles from there. A few more weeks and he would have graduated to using bid bots to support his scam.
Dmania is fucking stupid. They rip off memes and earn while the actual artists here just leave, and that's really bad for everyone because the arts and entertainment industry generates billions per year... but I guess these investors here don't want a piece of that pie, which doesn't make any sense at all.
You folks selling votes better start charging an entrance fee and screening new members BEFORE they're allowed access to your services. For the life of me I can't figure out why you all do it ass backwards. Let the good ones in, keep the scum out. There's far more money to be made in honest advertising and promotion but it seems you guys don't really know that yet. You guys just make it a free for all then scramble and end up doing far more work cleaning up the mess. Counterproductive.

I have a massive blacklist blocking users who post stolen content and spam, also banned dmania and steemshot from being rewarded. The SteemBotTracker ties my hand from doing anything like a whitelist. SmartSteem tried the whitelist approach and didn't work. Very few bots blacklist and even fewer do the research to find abuse.
The best I can do right now is to stop serving the people who plagiarize, spam, scam, and fraud.
Unfortunately, it is very time consuming and ends up with a lot of retaliation abuse. I still spend 10-40+ hours a week on it.
There is a system in place to discourage these types from participating in vote bots and voting circles, but it is not being used.
It actually did its job, it is being discussed heavily in private channels and may result in changes.
Some change would be nice to see. A lot of people are becoming discouraged. By the way, the shit post award is just a joke. I was bored.

I'm sure you have a good reason -- but could I ask why SteepShot posts are blacklisted? I understand that a lot of stuff on there is super spammy -- but there's also a lot of quality photography content as well.
The amount of SteepShot content I have seen that has been low effort spam far outweighed the authentic content.
I'm trying to do my best in offering promotion service but reducing the amount of garbage being rewarded.

Are you trying to tell me these people don't really care about the long term health of their businesses!? I mean, if you were to hand over the exact same tokens you depend on to stay afloat to a bunch of people who's main mission in life is to take said tokens and run to drive the value down avenue exchange, all while leaving such a mess behind that other future potential customers feel reluctant to move into the neighborhood because it's overrun by crack heads and random tipped over shopping carts, do you see yourself thriving behind a dumpster after everything is said and done? And to think, most of these people don't even make money even though some dipshit started a rumor that one could make money so wouldn't that further disrupt the flow if their customers no longer had any money to give them because they took it all? Wouldn't quantity over quality in this scenario be much like an inflatable dildo that grows at the same rate their asses stretch the more they fuck themselves?

Well, dmania is getting delegation from @misterdelegation which is a steemit inc account. If anyone gets sued for plagiarism, it won't be dmania's anon founder. It will be @ned and the steemit team.
The reason plagiarism and spam florishes on steemit is that no one cares about sueing others for stealing their work. It is a big hassle and has legal expenses.
Pardon my interruption here. If we are going to sue every mother fucking plagiarist of photography and meme, then I am sure as hell there will be a legal congestion given the abundance source of this stuff circulating on Facebook, Twitter, and Google + being re-posted without legal permissions whatsoever.
The diff between those sites and steem is that money is involved in steem. Monetization is happening here. Compare steem with monetized sites like youtube not demonetized sites like google plus or twitter.
I believe, but am not certain, that everything other than text is stored off chain, and so if issues arise they can be hidden.
And I believe, but I am not certain, that half of the text is also plagiarized. Only a few thousand users, like you, care enough to be original.

Can't the people behind steemit take dmania's steem delegation back until they improve their behavior? I assume steem staff isn't doing it out of scare of people loosing interest in steem blockchain but this copy paste thing is so not right + their "I don't care I just want the money" attitude is super bad for steem's repupation.
Dmania with their cool endless loop video feature could be a great place for former viners for example, yet they choose to slaughter this thing as long as it lasts. If this won't change, dmania will burry itself

I did flag the post, but I can only kill $20 of it myself. But the post isn't the problem, it is the 5,000 other ones created daily just like it.
My point was to draw attention to it, it succeeded, it is being heavily discussed in private channel by those with the power to change it. I didn't earn shit, I spent more than I earned.
@dmania is the laughing stock of Steemit inc's delegations right now - and not for the right reasons!
With this much delegated SP, they have to be voting manually, and at least checking google for the originality of the meme.

I'm still not sure if I totally understand this. So let me rephrase in my own words what is happening.
People post shitty memes with the tag dmania. Some are even plagiarism or directly from Google. @dmania got Steem delegated from the Steemit owners. And @dmania upvotes some of the posts with the tag dmania. Those upvotes are done by a bot. So anyone can just get a lucky upvote.
