That's okay, I can work with that, Marky. We take the criticism very seriously. We'll talk again in a few weeks. :)

Reminds me of DrugWars... Is this the new way of things? Dumb clones popping up where you have to throw in a ton of money in the hopes of being on the top?

It's a 'long haul' game for sure. It will be interesting to see if people stick with it. All of the points you make are fair criticisms.

What I find most interesting is that they seem to have made it very difficult for anyone with wealth to just pay their way to the top.

The team seem quite responsive to suggestions, and so hopefully it'll survive!

I quite like it, then again I've always liked games like C and C and elite so it's my kind of thing.

Thank you for detail post!

I think game balance will be fixed in near future. Early access... right.

I’ll stick to Steem Monsters 😉

To explore a new planet you need level 13 Shipyard and level 20 explorer skill. This may or may not seem to be a big deal to you, but I estimate this is 2 to 4 months of upgrading for the average user.

I wish they were a little clearer in what “stage” this game is in. I’ve had a couple of people tell me this really feels like its alpha testing a game.

Some of the massive time gates there are in game feels like stalling for time to get features out. There no way as a f2p or budget player that I’ll wait 3 months to get a second planet. I wish they would have gone more with a colonize skill and allowed your to get another planet in first week but taking much longer till you unlock what appears to be no cap on how many planets you can even have.

It’s definitely missing that bite to keep players around long term. Part of me wonders if the RPG element listed on their roadmap has such answers. NPCS for players to hunt for extra resources or something along those lines. This is something a game like this would do in the first hours of showing the player around. With how high of a level you need just for the shipyard to explore I hate to think how many weeks it be for a combat ship.

If it is like Drug Wars “early access” is the excuse for every issue and short sighted decision.

I'm upgrading my mining operations first and will do the first shipyard upgrade tonight when resources recharge.

It's gonna be great in a month or so. I like the defication it requires right from the start. No carrots and sticks.
