Why do they always change the page layout? #Disrupt-then-Reframe.
Have you ever been on Facebook or Google for example, and wondered why they keep changing their layout?
It is an age old question. But after a conversation with a friend, privy to some insider information, it seems the reason they do this is much more sinister than you might think. Since it seems to come down to the simple premise, that when people are confused, they are more suggestible, i.e.: more likely to click on ads and buy products.
In fact, it stems from a sales technique, or at least is abstracted from such, known as Disrupt-then-Reframe. This is a technique whereby if you give someone information that makes them confused, then follow this up with a sales pitch that is clear and precise, that you are much more likely to make a sale. It’s nothing new to those that know about suggestive techniques, since it is one of the core mechanisms of a mentalist: confuse, then control.
