BAYAN UMAWIT! THE MUSICAL-- #ULOG 005
Not so long ago I became a part of an annual Lenten Presentation in our Church. A theater play with the story written and performed by the youth of the Parish to be presented for the entire local community.
This year’s play was Entitled “Bayan Umawit! The Musical”. So from the title, basically the play was a musical. Where the characters sings and dance a lot. That was the plot twist to me.
Because honestly I don’t sing and dance. Yes, btw. I was a part. Luckily. I auditioned just hoping for a minor role just to experience how it feels to be in a larger production. Both fortunately and unfortunately I was accepted to play a major Role- Pindong.
Pindong the right hand of the farmer's leader. He is a very kind caring son, an opposite of his brother Agoy. Pindong despite of the support of his mother, and everyone in town, still doubt himself and fear that he will never be enough.
At the moment I was so worried, happy and everything… I just don’t know how to do it.Until I realize that was the Director’s job. And in the rehearsal, I learned almost everything about the play and how to do it.
Until the Big Day.
For some previews, here are my Favorite scenes with I played with.
The play was set in a town called Buklod, and the people in that towan was called Sambayanang buklod. Buklod is a provincial town, were farming is one of the main source of living.
It was one of the early scene when we sing "Bayan Umawit as introductory to the play.
This is Maria, love interest of Pindong
He is Mang. Elias, the Farmer's Leader
they are the Farmers of Buklod
Nanay Anita. Pindong's beloved mother.
Agoy. Pindong's older brother.
above are the Three Dominant Character. Two of them have hearts of greed, hate, anger, and pride that almost destroy the entire town of Buklod.
Gov. Gabriela Ayuda, Father Lucio and Don Miguel Del Valle
This is Hesus. The son of the Farmer's Leader, Mang Elias. He is the Main actor. He signifies kindness and purity of a heart, which everyone should have.
ALing Vida is Mang Elias' wife. A beautifula and kind market lady. She is contented with their life and she was just happy. She bring beauty and life to Mang Elias and her only son Hesus.
The Revolution
THe Pieta Scene. This is own of the most emotional scene in the play.
And the my most favorite part is this. This is the scene where we clap for God. All the fears I have, was lifted.
The entire presentation was a success. And I believe we taught a lot of lesson to audience. Form the Values in the Family, Love for each other, Service to Community and specially the Faithfulness to our Creator.
