Prayer seizes The Eternal | LEONARD RAVENHILL
No man is greater than his prayer life. The pastor who does not pray is playing in religion; the people who do not pray are lost.
The pulpit can be a showcase of human talents, but the prayer chamber has no windows outside. Poor as the church shows today in so many things, it is more about prayer.
We have many organizations, but few penitents; Many shows and actors, but few praying; Many singers, but few wounded hearts; Great shepherds and weak warriors of Christ; Much apparatus, but little passion; Many actuaries, but few intercessors; Many writers, but few wrestlers.
Failing in this we fail at all. The two requirements for a victorious Christian life are vision and passion; Both are born and supported by prayer. The Ministry of preaching is open to few people, but the Ministry of prayer — the highest of all human ministries — is open to all.
The spiritual teenagers say, "Today I will not go to the temple; It's just a prayer meeting. " I think Satan has little to fear today from pulpits. But past experiences force her to lift her entire infernal army against God's people when she prays. Modern Christians know little about what they
Jesus said of "tying or unleashing"; Although the promise is for us: "Everything you atareis..." Have you done recently? God is not lavish with his power; But to be a lot to God we have to be very much with God.
This world is rushing to hell with such speed that the fastest airplane is, next to such a march, like a tortoise; However, there are few of us who can remember the last night they stopped going to bed to spend it sailing before God in demand for a global awakening. We don't feel moved to compassion. We confused the scaffold with the building.
The preaching of our days, with its pale interpretation of the divine truths, makes us take action by anointing, communion for new birth, and babbling by awakening. The Secret of prayer is to pray in secret. The sinner ceases to pray and the one who prays ceases to sin. We are bankrupt beggars, but we are not broken, not even slightly bent.
Prayer is deeply simple and simply profound. "Prayer is the simplest way to speak, simply childish; However, it is so sublime that it surpasses and depletes all human vocabulary. A cataract of Ardorosas words as large as that of Niagara does not impress God or move him. One of the most ardent and profound intercessors of the Old Testament had no words. His lips were moving, but his voice was not heard. No linguistic expression. There are "unspeakable groans", which cannot be expressed in words.
We are so below the level of New Testament Christianity that we do not know the kind of historical faith of our spiritual parents (with their implications and operations) and we only know the historical faith of our contemporaries. Prayer is for the believer what capital for the merchant. Can anyone deny that the zeal of the modern church is for money? However, what is most troubling to the church of our time is the least concern of the Apostolic Church.
Our emphasis is on donations, yours was about prayer. When we give we can build a good place; When they prayed the local trembled. In the days of the New Testament the inspiration of the Spirit shook hell. Instead, in our day, the prayer that beats the world, has never been left by so many, in the care of so few. However, there is no substitute for this kind of prayer; Either we practice it or we die.
A religion of mere emotion and sensationalism is the most terrible of curses that can come to any people. The absence of reality is quite sad, but the pretence of it is a deadly sin.
. Chadwick
It is advisable to remove the idea that faith is a spiritual heroism of its own as only of select spirits. There are, indeed, heroes of faith; But faith is not only for heroes it is a matter of maturity or spiritual manhood. It's maturity, which everyone can get to.
P.T. Forsyth
When God proposes to make a great mercy with his people, the first thing he does is to invite them to pray.
Matthew Henry
Truth without enthusiasm, morality without emotion, ritual without life, are things that Christ categorically condemned. With a lack of fire religion becomes a philosophy without God, an ethical system or a superstition.
Chadwick
The appeal of the cross is therefore to enter into this passion of Christ. We must have upon us the mark of the slaves.
