amy winehouse - back to black

Released 18 years ago on October 27, 2006, Back to Black ages like a fine wine and has always seemed timeless. Who would have thought that a soul and R&B album would be a commercial success when the world charts are full of soulless industrial pop? Amy Winehouse's second and final studio album came out of nowhere and broke the current paradigm of music production. It also marked the end of one of the greatest voices of all time. A year after the release of Frank's debut album (2003), Universal asked Winehouse to write new material, warning that people would forget it. Amy didn't know how to work under pressure. She wouldn't write music if she didn't have to. For him, writing and composing was a way to overcome pain, and although she lived in a vicious circle of extremes, she knew how to face the situations that followed.

At least that was the case until another man came into her life. If there is one name behind the masterpiece Back to Black, it is Blake Fielder. He and Amy met in a London pub in 2005 and hit it off immediately. From that moment on, they began an ultimately destructive relationship that led to one of the best albums of the 21st century.

"You go back to that and I go back to black," Amy Fielder wrote after receiving a phone call from her ex-partner. Amy Fielder said the two reunited and wanted to remain friends. Together with Salam Remy and a young Mark Ronson, they made a breakthrough in shaping the album's production, the first song written for Fielder called "Back to Black." "Back to Black" chronicles the pain and sadness after love and a return to the familiar darkness seen in songs like "Dry Tears of Yourself" and "Waking Alone." The combination of instruments and ensembles from each era creates a clean and elegant feeling. It is an intimate piece that shows Amy at her most vulnerable and emotional moment.

Upon release, the album was a huge success and received praise from critics and media alike. At the time, Winehouse achieved worldwide recognition and fame that she could never have imagined. It wasn't good, but it was the last straw.

Pressure from the media and industry eventually drove Amy into depression, after which she withdrew from friends and family and turned to drugs and alcohol to calm her fears. On the night of July 23, my heart stopped due to excessive alcohol consumption. This is her last great work, her farewell and her legacy.
