MY FAVORITE SEASON

I’m here again to share with you about my favorite season, thank you for reading.

Nigeria has a tropical climate, with only two seasons which is Rainy and Dry season. In the southern part of Nigeria where I come from we have more rainfall compare to the northern part of the country where they experience a lot of sun which is always very hot. From my childhood, all my life has always been within my state and I got used to seeing water around me and cold weather. So at this point, I will say that my favorite season is the rainy season.

I would have preferred dry season but dry season comes with so much heat and dust, and my body reacts to heat and I equally have Sinusitis (sinus Infection) which makes me allergic to dust and other offensive odors. Whenever dry season comes, I’m always sick and if I’m going out, I have to go out with a nose mask but wearing a nose mask all the time gives me difficulty in breathing so this simply means even with a nose mask I will still be disturbed.

Whenever the rainy season comes, I’m always very happy and comfortable with it because the rainfall will subdue all the dust in our environment, it makes the environment to be cold so that I will be able to move freely without covering my nose all the time. The rainy season is always the best time to do farm work in our place because most plants like cassava, maize, yam, etc. require a certain amount of rainfall before they will germinate. The average temperature during the rainy season is always about 25℃, this temperature is always best for me, and when it lower than is, it will also cause a problem for me.

Aside from farm work, the rainy season equally helps me to do other domestic activities, like clearing the compound, removing gutters so that there will be a proper flow of water. Farmers are always very happy when it comes to the rainy season as they can’t afford to pay for artificial irrigation.

In summary, I will say that the rainy season is best for my health, it’s the best season for my body, and I do all my domestic work successfully during rainy seasons without having any health challenges. Back then in my primary and secondary school days, the rainy season has always been the best season for me to learn because I went to school in the village where we don’t have fans in classrooms so when it comes to the dry season, it’s always hot and that makes uncomfortable for me to concentrate and learn, so the rainy season is my favorite season in all.
