QUICK TIP-Timing and use of Tags for your Posts
Here are few tips to minnows on the timing and usage of tags on your posts from my experience so far on Steemit :
Whenever you click post on your Submit a Story Page your post is sent to new section in every category that you have tagged and to the feed of your followers. So if you don't have a big following, You have only 3 - 50 minutes to make you first power upvote.
If you get the attention with your post and you make let's say $3, then steemit algorithm will now Move your Post to Hot Section. If Your Post get's over 100-150 Upvotes and makes more than a few-hundred dollars( always depends on how many people are posting and which tags they are using, time of the day etc...) Your post is now Moved to Trending Section.
If you made it to trending your post will generate lot's of money and many new followers. So your first goal should be to move up to the hot section as soon as possible. Steem chooses to move up only posts that are generating money (Upvotes.)Power upvotes or money upvotes are given by people who have Steem Power.
If your post is at the right category at the right time when someone with steem power is scrolling by and Upvotes you, You will go straight to hot.
Tags have to be as relevant as possible ( I have done this mistake a few times myself )
Have 5 Tags at all times! if you don't have a big following. You want as many people as possible Noticing your post. Now If that post didn't make it to Hot Section than it will go down fast and after 2-3 hours it will be completely dead, making you only $0.01.
Example of my experience last week on one of my posts
The reason was that someone gave me a $5 Power Upvote 5 Minutes after I released the Post. Made it to first Place of Hot Section. It was on the 1st place for about 4 Hours then started moving down.
*I have used the introduceyourself Tag to reach out to new steemians ,i feel this will be very useful to them*

Thanks for the tips! Great post as always! But to post at the right time is hard no matter how good you post and content is :D
yes you right the right time is always difficult to pinpoint but the more you use the platform will will be able to judge the right time.
Yes you right the right time is always difficult to pinpoint but the more you use the platform will will be able to judge the right time.I remember one time i spent like 2 hours writing a post and i really felt that it was good, when i posted ,i only had 0.40 .I felt my effort was not recognized, but well that didn't stop me from writing. Those are the ups and downs of our beautfull platform.
Exactly! It's really mood-crushing when you spend like you said for example 2 hours on a story that has like 4 views and 0,10$ in the end and this shouldn't stop you from writing you just need to be patient :)
patience pays you will always get a breakthrough on the long run
Definitely. That's why in now even disapointed or mad when my posts get like 0,04$ i just move on a tell myself patience will pay off eventually :)
same here
I appreciate your advice. I am learning the game of success and enjoyment.
Every day its a learning curve and it never stops. My advice Steem on Everyday if you have time
There is definitely a large element of luck involved. Daily author numbers are up almost 12x in the last month, so it's tough to get spotted in that short window you have.
Good luck!
yes you are right , i have to update the tutorials ,steemit is changing very fast
I'm not sure if it's the best strategy, but I try to get my posts in between 5-10pm Eastern Standard time so that I can aim for the largest US audience (presuming that they are over-represented here).
ohhk i see ,will try doing so myself maybe it will work out.
