Despite all my reading and following threads and asking questions, just about every number I expected was wrong. The author payout was way lower than the calculations, the curation rewards were way higher, and the totals in the wallet match no guestimates I saw. This lack of correct info may tick off some people with different expectations.
However, my vote is now worth two whole cents!
I can throw pennies at people who post cool things.
Is anyone else surprised?

I just noticed the total change when I upvoted something.
Right this is awesome! I threw a vote on one of the higher introduce yourself posts in the hot section and it kicked it up over 100$! Put a like on here and it went about 1.5$... Still it's a significant upgrade from the one or two pennies before, and I haven't even powered up my steem dollars yet!
I may be way to excited over this site lol.
The value of any vote is much higher if many people vote on the same content than when voting alone.

my lone vote can add around 10 cents and I still need to power up. Much more when others have voted.
Should we expect our vote power to go up or down over time? There is probably a critical threshold where your voting power begins to really matter in how it can effect someone's life. When it's 02 cents then maybe it's not at that threshold. I think when it approaches between 25-50 cents it is getting near the threshold. When it is over $1 then it becomes something everyone will notice.
So what can a person do to bring their voting power to over the $1 per vote threshold?
You have to invest tens of thousands of dollars for that to happen.
That is why I was surprised to even be adding 2 cents.
Your vote, by itself, is worth two cents. Votes are worth a lot more when multiple people vote on the same content.
I'm not sure why your rewards didn't match estimates. I think the people creating the estimate tables know what they are doing, but I guess errors are always possible.
because price + content is constantly changing. Every vote changes the rewards for everyone.
Of course, but I wouldn't expect huge changes with 3 months of rewards already in the pool.
Technically the value of your vote depends on a number of factors, including how much voting you've done recently and how much stake has already voted on something you vote on. It is fun to see how much your vote weighs when you cast it, though. :)
It depends. I've seen 2 cents to others. But I upvoted this one and it went up several dollars.

i noticed if a post has already sizable amount it can add up quite a bit. Ranging from few cents to few dolla :) if its a fresh post with only few upvotes then it might add .01 cent. is this same for you guys?
Yes, that is new too. I assumed it was partly the exchange rate, but smooth mentioned that is how it works now too.
