"THE GOLD OF THE AZURE" (TEXTILE) / "L'OR DE L'AZUR" (TESSILE)

Yes sure it is “The Gold of the Azure” by Joan Mirò.
Some years ago I partecipaded in an exhibition dedicated to surrealism, and I presented this textile as personal interpretation of a surrealist work. I chose “The Gold of the Azure” for its colors and its composition.

Si, certo è ” L’or de L’Azur” di Joan Mirò.
Qualche anno fa’ ho partecipato ad una mostra dedicata al surrealismo, ed ho presentato questo tessile come interpretazione personale di un’opera surrealista. Ho scelto L’or de L’Azur per i suoi colori la sua composizione.

This is the original artwork. I like a lot Joan Mirò for his spontaneity, for his irony because he makes his job a game, like a child, bringing to the surface the myths of the unconscious.
Of course, I had as a model a work of art of considerable value and it was an honor for me to interpret it.

Questo è l’opera originale. A me piace molto Mirò per la sua spontaneità, per la sua ironia perché fa del suo lavoro un gioco, come un bambino, portando in superficie i miti dell’inconscio. Certo, ho avuto come modello un’opera d’arte di notevole pregio ed è stato per me un onore interpretarla.

As you already know I work with woven recycled materials, in this case I tried to respect the original composition with a plot made of calfskin, tulle, trimmings, fabrics, plastic, electric wires, alluminum cans, paillettes.

Come già sapete io lavoro molto con materiali riciclati intrecciati, in questo caso ho cercato di rispettare la composizione originale con una trama formata da pelle, tulle, passamanerie, stoffe, plastica, fili elettrici, lattine di alluminio, paillettes.

In this image we can see a particular of the work. In order to realize the blu stain I used the electric wires that I tryed in a building site near my house.

In questa immagine possiamo vedere un particolare dell’opera. Per realizzare la macchia azzurra mi sono servita di fili elettrici che ho trovato in un cantiere vicino alla mia abitazione.

This is a detail of black stain. I made this stain with black wires that I found from some of my friends dressmakers.
I often have the habit of starting a job without a sketch, maybe it’s a bad habit, because it often happens that during the job I change idea and I cancel what I did and I start again in another way.
With a lot of patience I start the work, choosing the materials first then combining them according to the colors and as the work progresses a certain satisfaction and enthusiasm grows in me that I can't describe.
Sometimes the work takes shape under my hands even better that I thought. I hope that you like this work, tell my what you think about it.

Questo è il particolare della macchia nera. Ho realizzato questa macchia con fili neri che ho trovato da alcune sarte mie amiche.
Di solito ho l’abitudine di iniziare un lavoro senza bozzetto, forse è una pessima abitudine , perchè spesso mi capita che nel corso del lavoro cambio idea e magari disfo quello che ho fatto per poi ricominciare in un altro modo. Mi armo di pazienza ed inizio il lavoro, scegliendo dapprima i materiali poi abbinandoli secondo il colore, via via che il lavoro avanza cresce in me una certa soddisfazione ed entusiasmo che non so descrivere. L’opera prende forma sotto le mie mani a volte forse anche meglio di come avevo pensato. Spero che questo lavoro vi piaccia, ditemi cosa ne pensate.
