Beloved, John explains how Jesus taught a new command which is to Love one another as he has loved them. Beloved, the "one another" in the verses is a reference to fellow believers. A distinguishing mark of being a follower of Christ is a deep, sincere love for brothers and sisters in Christ.

Jesus has given us this command"

1 John 4:21 Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister "

In giving the command, Jesus created a group identified by one thing , that is love. There are many groups in the world, and each group has a different identification ethic or activity; by skin we have the blacks, the whites, the caucasian and many others. By uniform we have teachers, lawyers and many more. The way people categorize themselves are endless but the Church is unique. Jesus created a group whose identifying factor is love. Skin color, native language, family and guilds doesn't matter. Followers of Christ are identified only by their love for each other.

Beloved, the early Church demonstrated the type of love Jesus was talking about, there were people in Jerusalem from all over the known world.

Acts 2:9-1 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

Those who were saved got together and immediately began meeting each other's need. All believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. This was love in action and you can be sure it made impression on the people of that city. As followers of Christ, our love for one another should be unconditional, sacrificial and forgiving as practiced by Christ Jesus.

Jesus' love is Holy, characterized by transcendent moral purity. The culmination of Christ's amazing love for us is His death on the cross, burial and bold resurrection. May the resurrected Christ help us to practice His pure love to each other as a community and a family at this hard pandemic period for the glorification of God.

God bless you richly as you stay home during this pandemic period.
