Constipation
"I find it diffcult to pass out faeces. It is usuallly hard when I try to. Sometimes I even cry. Water has become my best friend that even in the toilet, I drink water"
This is a true story while conversing with a friend this morning.
When we hear the word Constipation, what flies into our heads is that we cannot pass out stool.
Each persons have different bowel movements. Some people have bowel movements three times a day. Others have them only once or twice a week but once it is longer than three days or more days, then you are heading towards constipation.
So what then is constipation?
It is the difficulty in passing out stool or faeces or shit.
There are symptoms to this which are
- Hard stool
- swollen abdomen
- few bowel movement.
- when you sense that everything didn't come out.
CAUSES
A lot of things can cause constipation.Below are just a few
- Changes in diet : if your body as gotten used to a certain diet, any change to another can cause constipation
- Change meal plan : by meal plan I mean the time you eat. Once any change occurs, your bowels reacts and constipation sets in
- Low or Lack of fiber in diet : There is a need to have enough fiber in our diets. The fiber aids digestion of foods.
- Overuse of Laxatives. Laxatives are medications that induce bowel movements e.g Milk of Magnesia
- Use of antacids that contain calcium or aluminium
Prevention
Eat a diet with plenty fiber . A lot has been said about taking fruits and vegetables but let me say here that these two things aid digestion of foods

Have you tried psyllium husk- which is said help a great deal for these situations?
