Denied Tax Exempt Purchase At Wal-Mart

According to the receipt, "Organizations/Businesses categorized as ( Religious ), cannot make tax-exempt purchases in the state of CA pursuant to state law."

However, when I was approved for the Wal-Mart tax-exempt status, the organization that I am apart of was classified (or mis-classified) as a Government Agency as you can see.

Looks like I will have to call the 1-800 number and deal with the let me transfer your call redirects and get this correctly sorted out.

Corporations are continuously making these processes more complex and often do not train the on-site employees to deal with anything other than their specific position.

What a shame, they are going to do the same for Real Estate businesses too. CA only belief is Atheism

ya.....every company has to follow GST
You must have been at one of the old style Wal-Marts that haven't gotten the techno-updates.

you really haven't presented a clear written argument here. are you upset at walmart for not asking their minimum wage cashiers to learn detailed tax rules so that they can give you a tax break that you shouldnt even qualify for given the vague business description? or are you upset with the state government for making a law barring religious organizations from claiming tax exempt status?
I actually wasn't upset at all :) I made the purchase anyway
I was simply documenting the fact that a mistake was made on their part... after years of sucessful tax-exempt purchase.
ah ok. wasn't clear.
