A good way to evaluate your life- The view from your death bed.

Ok I get it morbid title, morbid thing to even think about on the face of it. But hold on just one moment and hear me out. Evaluating your life from a point of view that you're taking your last breaths is a MASSIVE leveller and motivation. Not only that some really great motivational minds such as Les Brown, and Michael Hyatt (who is someone I have just come across) often talk about this as a way to strive to be the best version of yourself. I naturally started to do this about 5 years ago when I felt like I was just exisiting and I tell you something it gives you a boot up the backside!

Les Brown himself talks of the huge amounts of graveyards, but not just with dead people, with people's dreams that had died before they even gave them a shot. Why? FEAR. Fear is the driving force, fear of failure, fear of what other people might say or think, fear of not being good or even worthy enough. Fear is the number one killer of dreams, taking the safe route might be 'comfortable' in the here and now, but what about when you're taking your final breaths and there is that book you didn't write, that language you didn't learn, or that mountain you didn't climb? You are not going to feel comfortable then, no you are going to be full of REGRETS,

That to me that is the driving force in my own life, I don't want to leave anything off the field of play so to speak. That is my BIGGEST fear, a life half lived. Yet so many do, they settle for half measures, many not even opening their unique gift box of personal talents which were given specifically to them to express in only a way they know how. We all have gifts even if we haven't discovered ours yet. Please if you haven't already take time out to think about it, you have something to contribute to the World trust me.

The other factors of the death bed evaluation is what contribution you have made to the World, especially nowadays with so much going on around us that needs our attention. I said on a radio show last night, anyone alive now in these times of massive changes, corruption, and manipulations needs to be involved in activism in one way or another. We ALL have a responsibilty to make this World a better place for our children and grandchildren. How are you going to feel on your deathbed knowing you lived in a time where the World was going through so much chaos and you did nothing to contribute?

How are people going to remember you? Will they remember you as someone who loved, inspired, cared. Are they going to remember you as someone who was authentic, truthful? Someone who overcame hurdles? Now I'm not professing to be perfect myself, but the deathbed evaluation is something I think of often, and I know that most people are showing up at maybe 50% of their full potential if that. Its such a waste, all that unlocked potential that we all have. Lets aim high to reach this potential and fulfil some of these dreams, even if you can look back and say you tried. Life goes past so quickly make the most of each day and strive to become the best version of yourself. You don't only owe it to yourself, you owe it too creation and the World becuase you have a purpose only YOU can complete.

An important viewpoint to consider for certain when considering what meaning an individual wants to assign to their existence, no doubt! Though death is most connected with reality, I have also heard it described as viewing your entire life as a book and you get to the end. Did it involve all the adventures you wanted? Well, it turns out you are not the subject but the writer, you are the only person that can change the story. Beautiful exercise to explore the reality of existence and also reinforce that the center of control is within each one of us to find whatever authentic happiness means to us. A worthy daily affirmation!

Absolutely agree with your sentiments here, we need to break the chains!

I think noone will be leaving this world by completing their all dreams or plans.. We will have always something missing or regretting. After reading your post I reviewed my life and I find myself just existing. I am not in the city I love, I am not doing something I want. But I am teying to keep my hopes alive..

You can do it, sometimes you just have to make some tough decisions and step outside the safety zone.

I can so relate to that, almost if not all my ideas my never get past the idea stage. Usually I work every scenario in my head inwhich my idea won't work and then I get stuck and it's back to the drawing board and the process begins all over again. My death bed "should I ...Could I" will be very depressing.

Doesnt have to be like that you have the power to change it :)

a good post .. thanks to you who have reminded me of death .. because every soul will surely die.

good post
