The Failed My Hometown Project and My first Meeting with a fellow Biñanense

Just like any ordinary town names, our town was a victim of misheard name and then later on they used the name as the official name of the town.

As one of my history teacher have thought in high-school our town's name Binan was named after the Filipino word "binyagan" which translates to christening in English. It was said that when Spaniards are asking what is the name of the town a christening is ongoing hence the local folks just answered "binyagan" because it is hard to pronounce by them it was called "Binyang" and then now "Biñan" both names will still be applicable to be used though but the senior citizen will know Binyang rather than Binan.

When the contest of @anomadsoul was introduced. I was super excited to feature my hometown Biñan and I already made some list on where I will be going to showcase my location.

My first stop should be the Museum and the house of the first teacher of Dr. Jose Rizal (one of the heroes of the Philippines) you may think that his mom was his first teacher but it is not the case if you will be reading the history books and even watch some biographies his first teacher is from our hometown.

I never went to this museum at all but they do have openings from Tuesday till Saturday as stated on the sched. but unfortunately the guard stated that it is not open for public 😢 There's a lot of students hanging around the place but as I got disappointed already I left the place. It was my first stop and since I have a list of things to feature I told myself that I will not be joining on the contest anymore. Hahahahha

So to ease my disappointment due and cool down a little bit because it is too hot. I went outside at around 2PM 😂 I visited the local mall in our area the Pavilion Mall I just ate and then connected to the free wifi that the mall is offering.

After connecting to the wifi service of the mall I checked if I have some messages from discord and facebook messenger and then started chatting with other folks. In most cases I answer some general inquiry, welcoming newbies to the group and giving them feedback on something in cyberspace, until one man from steemitfamilyph mentioned that he is also from our place and he told me that he is just nearby and he wants to see me in person because he has a lot of questions that needs to be answered.

For some people they are excited if they are meeting new folks in the area but for me honestly I AM NOT.
Hahaha I am doing some crazy stuff here in steemit like recording a video, singing and spoken poetry and for some reason I am quite shy if it will be discussed outside steemit . At the back of my mind Oh My! I am doomed! My world is now becoming smaller and smaller.

After confirming that we do not have any connection at all nor know him personally we decided to meet-up. He told me that he is fairly new on the platform around 2 weeks and he is still learning the ropes on steemit.com. Since he is a steemian already and I am somehow a veteran guy (lol 3 months already) I decided to give him some tips and some information about steemit.com

• Other steemians to look forward and the contest that he can join
• The events that happened in Philippines that is involving steemit and how he can help in the future
• Our jamming session ( he is playing a guitar and singing and I am singing too just a little though)

He said that he cannot believe that the person chatting with him in discord was just a nearby fellow. He thought that I am a foreigner because I am speaking in English. Plus he never knew that there is one hahah. I told him that we are actually 3 now here in Biñan as far as I know because ate @emdesan is also from the area.

I did not continue on taking some pictures in the area because of the clash meet-up that happened but somehow I was able to atleast give my new tropa @ismesikero a glimpse on what he can expect in the long run on this platform. I told him that I am not a big one yet here but I can go ahead and support him to be a better steemian with some mentorship on the side, which I think veteran folks are doing now to retain new comers.

Our next meet-up will be a jamming session and it will be uploaded here on steemit, atleast I will have some things to do when I got bored in our home and need some real socialization and not using the internet. 😎 😎
