Let’s Watch with Travelgirl #12 - Love on a Diet | 瘦身男女

Love on a Diet is one of the of those classic films you don’t mind watching over and over again. Starring the famous Andy Lau (playing Fats) and Sammi Cheng (plays Mimi), they both go to transform from their usual self to an obese couple living in Japan. Both Andy and Sammi are known to have good looks so for the audience, their new characters with their obese outfits have made headlines in many Asian newspapers and magazine articles.

Mimi cannot forget her ex boyfriend who is now a world class pianist and has gone through different mental states and developed binge eating disorder. Her conditional has gone so bad she decided to commit suicide where she met Fatso in the weirdest scenario. Both from Hong Kong, they found something similar - they are both obese. Fatso has learnt that Mini has decided to meet her ex-boyfriend at the Yokohama Marine Tower after their 10th year of the breakup - a promise they have made to each other.

Fatso was determined to help Mimi look great for the reunion meetup and have tried different ways to make it happen. Eventually, Mimi was getting slimmer by the day. Mimi had no money and rely on Fatso to fund her weight loss project. A memorable scene was where Fatso decided to allow people to punch him on the streets of Japan to make a few dollars to help Mimi reach her goal. It was the night for Mimi to meet her ex-boyfriend. What will happen? Will they get back together?

The whole film was very cute. Andy Lau and Sammi played the characters well and they have forgotten their idol status and made themselves look extremely different to their usual stage look. The storyline was very fairytale like with someone was willing to help a stranger to make her dreams come true. The film was filmed in Japan which made the film a bit more interesting as it seems like the views also visited a foreign country. The theme song sung by Sammi 終身美麗 is still a classic song of hers where many fans around the world would know the words too. The song wrote especially for this song has the whole movie written in the 1 song. When fans sing this song, the scenes of this movie will play through their minds scene by scene.

大家好，我相信很多人都有看過劉德華和鄭秀文主演的瘦身男女. 這部是在日本取景而今次劉德華和鄭秀文會從平常的有型形象變成超級大肥婆大肥佬. 鄭秀文演的 Mimi 本來是跟一個很有才華的男朋友拍拖但因為要分開讓 Mimi 性情大變吃很多變成大肥婆，自信心沒有就想自殺. 因為自殺的關係就認識劉德華演的 Fatso. Fatso 知道 Mimi 的故事之後就覺得要幫她瘦身但最後慢慢喜歡了 Mimi. 整套電影都非常好看，是一部經典電影. 鄭秀文唱的電影主題曲 ‘終身美麗’ 也變成了大家都喜歡唱的 K 歌，每次唱都會有這套電影的畫面出現.
