Let’s Watch with Travelgirl #6 - As Time Goes By

Hi Everyone,

I decided to watch this drama because I used to watch Ben Wong in my afternoon shows after school when I was a kid. He is the lead actor in this drama along side with Max Cheung who I’m used to watch every night in a sitcom as well as Alice Chan who is the lead actress in this series. The drama involves these 3 main characters testing their friendship and loyalty on an innocent that happened during their teenage years.

Living in the villages in outer Hong Kong, the trio grew up together attending school and hanging out when they have any spare time. On a night during the Mid Autumn Festival 30 years ago, Alice and Max got really drunk and slept together. Max work and regretted what has done but did not own up to his wrong doing. His good friend Ben took the blame and kept this secret for 30 years. During these years, Ben was not welcomed by the local people every time he came home to visit him mum and have forced to move into the city.

Alice had to leave the village as she was deemed as unclean and became a school teacher in the city. Max migrated to Australia and started a new life there. One night of mistake have changed the life of 3 characters in this drama. I won’t say more on how things progress but rather let you continue from where I have left it.

My thoughts: The drama is a low budget production with very experienced lead characters. They places they film was in a village and nothing extravagant was needed to make this drama work. I don’t usually like watching these types of storyline but as I mentioned earlier on, I wanted to support Ben Wong and to my surprise, the storyline was not as bad as it seemed. A nice show if you have some time to spare and don’t mind being a little sad in the beginning.
