5 Days In Cornwall 🌊

2 weeks before I was going to Cornwall my life got turned upside down ... instead of camping 🏕 I ended up going on my own and staying in a B&B but no more sad moments other than that ... loved every minute

My Great Uncle is from Cornwall and growing up hearing stories from there I vowed to go there one day nothing or no one was going to stop me !! My Uncle was so proud of me going on my own even though I’d travelled Australia and Canada on my own !!! This was close to him and meant a lot I went to see his home town ...

So that’s why it meant so much for me to go there and il tell you my little story of 5 Days in Penzance

Day 1 - traveling to Penzance

I got the 8.30am train from Bury St Edmunds all the way through london and came into Penzance late afternoon ! 8 hours on trains but soooo worth it

My Uncle said make sure you sit on the left side of the train and check the view out as your coming in !! Lifting my head from my book 📚 I’m so glad I listened took his advice and took In the scenery

I got into Penzance station ... so cute !!! I couldn’t wait to get outside and see the sea !!!

I Couldn’t actually believe the sea was blue!!! I’m used to Felixstowe and as much as I love it and it’s my go to when I need air !! It’s not blue!!!!! I text the family to say I was there and went in search for my B&B - omg the cute little high street !!!! Pulling my massive suitcase along the cobbled street I just knew I wasn’t going to regret coming here !!!

I had a tonne of books in my case and a view I so wasn’t getting bored of !!!

I found my sleeping ground but nobody was in!!! it was a nice bright day even though it was only March so I sat on the bench waiting for the owners return - he’d only gone to walk the dog!!

Even though he had a leg brace on he refused to let me carry my massive case up like 2 flights of stairs to where I was staying :)! It was cute and just what I needed !! I checked in and listened to all the information I needed before setting up camp for 4 nights :)

I packed a bag and headed out! No wasting anytime for me !! I needed to see the famous St Michels Mount for myself !!! Not just on a postcard, in a book, in my uncles stories or in a colouring book that when I was 12 coloured in for him and he’s framed it !!!

It said 3 miles on the sign passed the train station, so I headed out on my first little adventure to Marazion searching for the castle on the hill!
( didn’t know Ed Sheeran then!)

The sun was setting and I felt so so lucky to be there living this for my uncle that can no longer go

I thought to myself I better get something to eat so headed into the restaurant opposite St Michels Mount and asked to be sat in the window so I could watch the sunset !

I had a few people look at me ... but I didn’t care I smiled and said hello !! I had my book a cider and fish and chips ! I was well happy!!
Yep didn’t have a kindle then !! So that explains my heavy suitcase !!

I thought I better start heading back before the sun completely goes down as there were no street lights !!!! But il show you my view walking back !!!!

Sorry photos than writing !! Il try better for day 2! I snuggled in bed so excited for what the next day brought :)!!

Day 2 - the walk to lands end !!!!

Absolutely buzzing for the day I got up early and headed down for breakfast, the owner shown me where I’d be sitting for the week and explained what happened with breakfast! I got stuck right in with a cuppa and full English! Why not! It was a big day :)

I was sat with other people so the owner introduced us and we started chatting whilst I waited for my hot food :)
They were amazed I was there on my own and were sorry for the circumstances but glad I came to explore anyway :)

Il find you the name of the B & B before I go but we fab and breakfast was rather yummy too ! I had abit of Everything! Loving the fact someone else was cooking for me ! ( I’m a chef by trade !) - It was on Morrab road !! Just looked on a map so lovely bringing back happy memories from just looking at a street map :) Morrab Gardens are pretty cute and relaxing too if you have a nice sunny day but don’t want to hit the beach ...

On a full stomach I popped up to my room to pack my bag ready for my day and checked the map!!
10 miles to Lands end !!! I better start walking! And that’s what I did :) I had some funny looks on the way! Some hellos ! And a few moos from the fields !!!

Yay! I’d made it !!

10 miles ! I pretty much ran to the sign!

And then went back to the start and began looking around! Very touristy ! It was like an entrance to a theme park !!! A few souvenirs shops, a museum sort of place like with stories of how it all came about ! A pub ! Il show you that in a minute! And places to grab food :) I wandered round then had a cuppa as was rather chilly

After warming up I went back down to the sign! You can get your photo taken with your name or whatever on the sign and the date you were there etc and I thought why not!! Might never come again! Even though I really want to ! You just don’t know where life takes you :) so

I went into the souvenir shops and took a look around !! If you’ve read my other posts ! I’m a big shot glass collector!! So obviously had to grab one of those !! The cashier asked how my day was and how I’d got there etc !! So I said I’d walked and he looked surpised and I said I weren’t sure what way to walk back! And he said don’t !! It’s getting kinda late and you probably won’t be back before dark ! The coastal road is 16 miles and the way you came obviously is 10! But there is a bus by the entrance that comes every hour !! It had started to get really chilly as it was only April so I sat at the bus stop and waited for the bus :)

Amazing day I loved it !!! I headed into the town for something to eat and to be fair the spoons looked really nice!! Oldy like all the locals were in there so I headed in for pie and chips and a cider !!!! With my book ! No one bothered me and I just sat people watching :)

The next morning I got up early and went for a little run 🏃🏻‍♀️ and a few exercises along the front! So glad I did it was beautiful way to start my 3rd day

I worked for my breakfast so went back for a shower and followed the smell of the bacon 🥓!!!

Day 3 - St Ives/St Michaels Mount

Oh wow what a day! I saw some sights!!! I got the train from Penzance To St Ives the views from the train were unbelievable ! You’ve gotta go!!!
Il show you a few pictures ;) but you do have to experience it yourself !

Literally the station is pretty much on the beach. !!! I walked through the town it was super cute !! I vowed I’d go for a cream tea so I set out to find the cutest little tea room :) I found it down one of the back streets !! I was full to the brim and ready to go exploring

I sat for ages watching the fisherman !

I could people watch all day but I only had 1 more day after today so had to make the most of it !!!
I headed back on the train and headed down to st micheals Mount to see if the tide was out so I could walk across!!!

It was abit chilly waiting at the station !! ^^^

Woop woop !!! Amazing I could walk across!!! It was just amazing being on the beach too!!! The wind had calmed a little and it was a lovely afternoon over there :)! Make sure you go !! I wouldn’t recommend the Cornish pastry though!! Wish I’d got a more local one in the town !! They were trying to be too posh with they one!!!

Just couldn’t believe how beautiful it all was and then .... I saw a starfish !!! Amazinggggg

Everyday I walked down to the front from my B&B I saw an Italian restaurant but it was only open on Wednesdays ... the owner told me but he said go! It’s amazing !! So that’s what I did!! Headed there quite early and glad I did because it got really really busy !!! But loved it :) sat with my book near the window and watched the sunset set through dinner

I wandered back and got into bed with a cuppa and my book again !!! The next day was an exciting one !!!

Day 4 - Tattoo Day !!!

I’d been looking all week to have a tattoo !! Needed a souvenir of my time in Cornwall on my own !! I finally found one online booked it and was going at 3pm in the thursday :)!!! I have 3 others but the last one before this one was on my ribs and I thought I was put off for life !!! But I loved it !!! And I got to watch because of where it is !!!

More on that later !!

I thought I’d check out the other way to Marazion as I was heading home the next day ! So I grabbed a bus to Mousehole so cute!! All the little shops and boats in the harbour !!

It was so tight the bus getting round those corners but him seemed like a pro !!! Heading back into Penzance I thought I better grab some lunch before my tattoo and afternoon of souvenir buying! So I popped into spoons and had soup and a sandwich !! ( The White Lion !)

It was time !

Absolutely buzzing I nearly ran to the tattoo shop and headed in!

The world !! I absolutely love and never look at it with regret :) just reminds me every time how brave I was and am going travelling on my own, what I’ve been through and what I’ve learnt from me but also how many other places I need to be seeing too!!

On cloud 9 I spent the afternoon looking round the shops and I even went into small little pub down one of the side streets for a pint because why not!!!! It was super cute as you can tell I use cute a lot !! The locals looked at me when I walked in but couldn’t care less! I had as much right to be there as anyone!! I thought I better grab food whilst I was here too as was getting late and had to go back and pack :( so I grabbed scampi and chips because it smelt good!! And tucked in!

It was time ... I wandered slowly back to pack absolutely gutted that my time was coming to an end but I was so proud of myself and couldn’t wait to get back and tell uncle mick about how wonderful his home town was :)

I’d spoken to my dad in the week and he was going to be working in reading so I didn’t have to do the full 8 hours on the train :) which was lovely :)

I got to the train station early to see the view one more time !!!

And that’s my train ...

It was nice to see my dad and he asked what the squiggle on your ankle !!! And then we headed home :)

So long story short !!! Go to Cornwall !!!

Just so peaceful and beautiful !!

I think my next stop will be Brussels I went with my twin sister for a bank weekend in May !!!
