Angkor Wat - Cambodia - Did you know that .....? Travel with Salima & Timo

in #travel7 years ago

In June we were a whole month in the city of Siem Reap and only Siem Reap!
Our motto is to get to know each country very intensively, instead of moving every few days. With baby anyway a no-go.

One of our goals was Ankor Wat. The temple complex is huge. Honestly, you need more than 1 day to see everything. It is worth the day to rent a tuk-tuk or a scooter, since the distance to the respective temples is very far. Just walk too far and you will lose valuable time to see the temple facilities.

I would like to give you some tips to make your next trip more enjoyable.
Here are some facts for your next holiday.

Did you know....

-that Ankor Wat is the most famous temple, but the whole complex consists of several temples?

-that the entry price has almost doubled since 1.2.2017? 1 day cost before 20USD, now 37USD per person

-that you can get into the Ankor Park free of charge from 17.00 (but not in the temple itself)

  • that for local people the entrance is free?

-that you do not have to buy the ticket at the temple, but outside?

-that Ankor Wat was not the temple where Tomp Raider was filmed? It is the temple Ta Prohm, which stands however in the same Ankor park.

  • that you should cover yourself with long trousers and shoulder during the visit?

  • that your Ankor Park ticket is also valid for smaller temples around Siem Reap?

Tip:
I can give you the tip to always have enough water, because in the temple plants is often the air and through the enormous heat you lose fast much liquid. Start as early as possible, especially if you only have one day. The time passes faster than you think and the journeys between the individual temples is not to be underestimated.

Have fun with your next Ankor holiday
