Beautiful Texas Owl - August 24, 2016 [Original Photos]
All photos were taken with a Panasonic DMC-FZ70 Lunix with 60X Zoom Lens on August 24, 2016.
This is my natural backyard varmint remover. It removes anything it sees move in my backyard other than cats and small children (thankfully). Recently this owl's partner had some babies stored in a nearby dead tree. They were very cute and I wish I had some pictures, but they moved them to another tree not long ago. Both are beautiful creatures.
I had to use my wife's camera to get a decent shot of this guy because my 500mm lens is so damn heavy that all of my shots were shaky without my tripod. So before it got too dark I grabbed hers and got these decent shots zoomed all the way in. He was about 50 yards from me and around 35 feet up. Not bad for a point-and-click! I adjusted the pics a little bit in Lightroom so he could be seen a little better.

I was talking with my neighbor about the owl's and she mentioned that she had some images of the babies and one of the owl eating a rat, so she sent them to me and said I could post them.
They aren't the greatest as far as quality go, but they are some cool images!
So cute!
Hey Tuck, I took the liberty to morph your first two pictures into a cool GIF: eyes open, eyes closed, eyes open, eyes closed ^^
Hope you don't mind ;-)
Hah! Thanks, that's cool! :)
Carl Spackler applauds your varmint removal techniques
TMI : I learned all of my dance moves from that gopher. =)
Lol!
What a beautiful owl!
owl size is so big :)
Well, it is in Texas and ... "everything's bigger in Texas". =)
That's a big ass owl that no doubt, could open some serious whoop ass if needed :( :)
Not bad. He looks quite cute too. I'm a sucker for small animals!
I have only 1 comment:
Not bad for a point-and-click!
Serious shot without a tripod and a 500mm. Kudos.
Nice photo, that's a beautiful owl.
Has he passed on any wisdom to you yet???
Yes, he told me to use my wife's point-and-click when it's near dusk and holding a 15lb 500mm lens is too shaky. =)
Excellent advice, does he know what to do with about 300 cucumbers????
Satisfy 300 lonely ladies?
:'D
where do you think tuck gets his #Steemocrazy ideas from?
Good point. His ideas may be wild, but I didn't realize that they came from the wild kingdom!
An owl once told me the exact number of licks needed to get to the center of a tootsie pop
He always bit mine first... stupid owl...
Fantastic!
