Introduction

Pollution is simply referred to as the introduction of harmful materials into the environment by humans and animals. These harmful materials are called Pollutants .
Many important things needed by humans causes pollution, examples include; burning coals, exhaust pipes, pesticides chemicals used in the elimination of insects etc.

How Land Is Polluted

In my locality, land pollution is majorly caused by the introduction of agricultural activities. During farming seasons, the bushes in the environment are usually burnt and these could cause the animals in that habitat to migrate in search of shelter.
Improper disposal of waste also causes land pollution. Take for example Port Hacourt, the amount of wastes disposed improperly has made the land unbearable for individuals to live in.

Air pollution is the contamination of the atmosphere or environment by biological or chemical activities that alter the natural features of the atmosphere.
In my city, air pollution is caused by ozone, combustion of household devices, motor vehicles and nitrogen dioxide.
Air pollution is harmful to the human health and as such, should be avoided.

Water pollution can be referred to as the contamination of water sources such as streams and taps which makes the water unhealthy for drinking, cooking and swimming.
Other forms of pollution often find their way to the water. The water is like the final bus stop for all the pollutants.
The main causes of water pollution in my city include; human wastes, fertilizers and pesticides. They cause pollution when introduced into our water ways.

Why Is Pollution Dangerous To Health?

1. Pollution increases the chances of having heart diseases, respiratory infections and lung cancer.
2. Pollution can also result in result in dizziness, coughing and fatigue.
3. Pollution could harm the human liver, blood and spleen.
4. It results in breathing difficulty or even asthma.

What I do to Protect Myself From Different Forms Of Pollution

1. I do not burn my trash close to my home because it may result in soot.
2. I recycle and also buy recycled products
3. I save e energy by turning off electrical appliances that are not in use.
4. I open windows to allow natural air enter.
5. I do not smoke.

Ways the Government Can Help to Fight Pollution

The government can help to fight pollution by assigning law enforcement agencies to help stop individuals from illegal dumping of refuse. They should also provide proper means by which these wastes can be disposed in order to avoid pollution.

Conclusion

Pollution is very hazardous and could even result to death. Let’s all try our possible to refrain from activities that could pollute our environment.
