Fashion faux pas, Friendship and Fun
”A day without laughter is a day wasted.”
-Charlie Chaplin
This past weekend was one for the books! Honestly, as a working mother...I don’t get out much. Having a change to catch up with friends is a rare opportunity. I was lucky enough to get to spend the entire weekend with an amazing group of women.
As many of you have read in my previous posts, my best friend since grade school is moving. This weekend was mostly about her. It was about sharing memories, making a few new ones and spending time together before her newest venture. We ate A LOT of food and talked our heads off (as old friends are known to do.) The last hoorah was supposed to be a slumber party at my house...but because one of our friends is an old soul (I.e. she goes to bed at 8pm usually) we settled for a day of shopping and leisure.
We checked out a few stores that I had never been before! Charming Charlie’s, a lovely accessory store was first on of list of places to check out! This store was amazing! We spent over an hour meandering around. They had jewelry, purses, wine glasses, clothing and more! I found the cutest wine glasses and an awesome pair of earrings! My girlfriend found some amazing shades! She looked like a rockstar, and they were perfect for her travels!
After this store, we all carpooled to the mall. It has been a hot minute since I stepped foot in our local mall! So much had changed! There were so many new stores to check out. I almost felt overwhelmed...almost. This girls loves shopping though, so I managed to regain my composure. Lol.
The most enjoyable part of our shopping excursion was our trip to H&M. This clothing store focuses on the trendy, hip and modern...or so we thought.
After only a few moments in this store, one of my besties and I decided...the 90s really is making a comeback, and not in a good way. Maybe it’s the fact that we’re all in our 30s (early 30s, but still...) The clothes were hideous! I felt like I was sent back in a time machine to 1996...or, as if I was on the set of “Spice World” (< A very, very classic 90s movie...for those of you who may have never seen it)
Any way...we decided that we would try on some of these latest fashion fads. We took turns picking out outfits for each other, and let the laughter ensue!
I think I can describe these best as...an elementary school girl, a spice girl/street walker, and a mixture of both curtain and table cloth!
We laughed until our stomachs hurt! It was hilarious...take into account our ages. I thought the sales associate was going to kick us out!
My last outfit was perfect for the 90s club girl!

Needless to say, we didn’t make any purchases at this particular store, but it was definitely the most memorable!
After a pit stop at the pretzel stand for some delicious cinnamon sugar pretzel bites, we headed out!
This particular shopping event was the last gathering before our friend drives off into the sunset! We had our tearful goodbyes in the parking lot. I know, however, this is a lifetime friendship...so it’s really “until we meet again” and not “goodbye”.
Friendship is forever @twoturtletots. There is no goodbye. Though we live miles away a friends heart will stay close. I'm happy for you all. Nice story
Yes! I’ve had friends move away before...when we visit, it’s like we haven’t skipped a beat! Some friends are just like family!
I've always thought that fashion is recyclable so I keep some old-fashioned clothes for another season, except for the ones that look like curtains and tablecloths lol.... I'm sure that if friendship is true they will be found again.
I like 90s grunge...Basically you can throw on a T-shirt and ratty pair of jeans and voila, trendy! Lol. Unfortunately, none of my 90s looks would fit me today. I was a scrawny little teenager!
lol.. I'm not far from that reality.

Reading about your story is heartwarming... mine however corresponds more with Charlie Chaplains:
“I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.”
😂 the clothes really look funny... Too colourful and the skirts much too long 😆
But the worst are the silly bras... no figure left over 😂 Makes out of every nice girl a totally boring one 🤣
I don’t think we even looked at the sizes! Haha! Nothing fit...but I wasn’t about to go searching through that place again...we made do... Lol...
just have fun... hope you’ll find something sexy... 🍀
