This week in Giants baseball #1 redo

in #baseball8 years ago

So I tried to post this last night but messed up and none of the text was there just the picture. So let's try this again. This past week was a short one in terms of baseball due to the all star break. Just three games for the Giants. They are coming off a first half of the season where they had the best record in baseball. They had their pitching rotation all in order headed to start the second half against the lowly Padres who the were 9-0 against this season. Things were looking good for the start of the second half. Well things didn't really work out the way everyone was hoping, the Giants were swept in a three game series by the Padres. Having just two flat games and one heartbreaker in the middle. Friday night you have your ace Mad Bum on the hill and everyone is rested. And they come out flat like a soda that's been sitting out over night. Bumgarner didn't pitch very well by his standards at all. Going 6 innings giving up 4 runs on 7 hit and1 walk. Not a terrible start but not a Bumgarner normal outing. The offense didn't do much only scoring 1 run on just 5 hits. Final 4-1 Ok right you are coming off an all star break come out a little flat but you will get them tomorrow. Right? So Saturday evening roles around you have the shark on the hill who had a solid first half but scuffed a little down the stretch. This was an opportunity to right the ship for the second half so to speak. But that didn't last long as he gave up 3 runs in just the first 2 innings. The Giants answered back with a 2 run home run by Angel Pagan in the 3rd inning. Only to have the Padres add 2 runs in the bottom half of the inning with a Matt kemp home run, and one more on a triple that scored one. The Giants scored one more in the 5th to it the lead to make the score 5-3 Padres. Then added 2 more in the 6th with solo home runs by Mac Williamson and Pena. The score remained tied until the top of the 10th inning when Buster Posey hit a solo home run to give the Giants their first lead of the game. Now it's the bottom of the 10th and this is when things got weird. Santiago Casilla came in for the save. He quickly gave up t3 singles in a row and now the score was tied with runners on 1st and 3rd. Casilla caught his cleat on the mound and balked In the winning run. So now you lost 1 the night before when you came out flat and another on heartbreak after a great comeback. But hey you have the starting pitcher for the national league all star team going tomorrow. Sunday after noon was more of the same from Friday flat flat and more flat. Cueto didnt pitch well at all. The offense was nowhere to be found getting no hit going Into the 7th. The Giants only managed to score 3 runs on a 3 run pinch hit home run by Gillaspie. They lost 5-3 There is a lot to talk about after this series. Is this a sign of things to come in the second half ? Or just a fluke weekend after a long break. Is it time to address the bullpen issues? The offense I think will be fine with key players set to come off the DL soon. What are your guys thoughts on what the Giants did this weekend or what they are going to need to do down the stretch? Thanks for reading. Can't wait to see the feedback from you guys. #sfgiants #togetherwearestrong #Giants #baseball #mlb #inBochywetrust
